Ah generalli 'ave this problem with many an anime as they might have just enough interesting things to keep me interested, so I watch in hopes that they get better. This was the case with Gurren Lagann, Madoka Magica, Rwby, Re: Zero, and (probably more that I am forgetting) for Me. I am very happy I held on and let the shows progress further before stopping, cuz these all turned owut to ultimately be greaitlyke wunderful shows (Re:Zero thus far anywho). Though looking at the first post here and it's mention of Death Note, I agree with that jank thehr. It was mildy interesting and pretty damnamn intelligent up until L died, then it gawt very eeehhhhhhhhpooup. These ahr Mah thoughts aniwho, Ah recommend atleast giving the shows ah 'ave mentioned a shot

Yes I did this with Soul Eater and a lot of Hutner x Hunter. Soul eater is just plain bad after the first 23 or so episodes(an even then most of them are mediocre)

I'm kind of slogging through Gintama right now.

Some episodes are hilarious, and some arcs have great action and emotion, but I'd say almost half of them seem like filler, like I could've skipped them without missing out on any laughs, character traits, or story development at all. I do get that it's like an anime sitcom, where it's (usually) just the same group of friends getting into wacky hi-jinks, but I sometimes have to force myself because the quality of the episodes vary so greatly, whether they're serious or just for laughs.

There could be a 9/10 episode, either because of the humor, action, or feels (or a great mix of all three), but then the very next one might be a 3/10 where I'm struggling to stay awake. And it's just so long (I think I'm on episode 90-something now). So it can sometimes be hard to get motivated to watch it, because I don't know if the next few episodes will be awesome, or total wastes of time.

It's just so...inconsistent.
When it's great, it's fantastic, and clever, and funny, and sentimental -- but when it's bad, it's almost unwatchable.

I had to force myself through SAO,Master of Martial Hearts, and Naruto.

All 3 made me want to die but the first two more than the third.

Forcing yourself through a series is boring. I just either hope there's something nice or drop it altogether.

It's like reading classical literature because you feel that you should read it because everyone thinks it's great because it's classic.

I used to do this with animes sometimes, usually because I'm reading a forum where almost everyone thinks this anime is a must-see and if you don't like it you're just not appreciating it correctly. Chobbits (forgettable) and Tora Dora (okay for about 3 episodes, but highly overrated) come to mind.

In short, I've never finished a boring anime and thought "Gee, I'm glad I forced myself to watch that".

I forced myself through Gakko Gurashi. It was interesting, don't get me wrong, and I'm glad I watched it through to the end, but it never "got" me. I only kept at it because at the time, it was the only thing my friends and I were watching together.

I also forced myself through six episodes of Joker Game before deciding to drop it. @__@
