Maybe its just me but does anyone else find those school uniforms/dresses really ugly?

The girls' uniform is horrible. Someone early suggested that maybe it was going for a mermaid look, and if so I guess I can admire the concept, but not the execution. Especially combined with the boots (which they wouldn't even wear inside the school anyway, right?) it just looks like it's going for some ultra feminine old-fashioned look. Also I hate the ribbon ties. I'm hoping we just get to see more diving suits, less dresses.

I still hate the doll faces, and that and the dresses is actually an unpleasant distraction. However, I do like the incipient friendship/romance being built, and the way they handle the difference between the characters as sources of attraction. The teacher is also a really great character that we are getting a nice feel for even though we've seen just a little of her.

I did find the ending of the episode relaxing, but I had to force myself a little to stay with it, and not see it as a pacing problem. But a few deep breaths, and resisting things like my computer in front of me, and just watching allowed me to stick with it to get to that remembrance of how it is to just lay back outside and be in a moment.

Ok Loreen so this comment is dated but didn't you enjoy Lara Ingalls running down the hillside in the OP of Little House of the Prairie cause those girls uniforms are a match down to the boots

Found a pic with attractive ribbon lol

Ha ha ha. I actually almost mentioned Little House on the Prairie when I posted.

I did read the books and I have seen some of the episodes from the TV show -- and while I didn't care for the dresses there either, they weren't as bad as the night bonnets!

Episode 2: The Story of Doing Something Bad With Hikari

Bruh Pikari out ran a motorcycle, even though she did take a shortcut and almost potentially broke her legs, but it's cool her genki power is strong enough to overcome anything.

My goodness though the visuals in this show are godly. They made a school pool look majestic af. Like damn that whole scene was gorgeous. Plus during those scenes they never used the puppet face which shows that they want to be serious when portraying those types of beautiful scenes. I still like the puppet faces though.

Question, cause I have never dived before but what's the purpose of doing a stride or spreading your legs when diving or entering the water? Wouldn't it be more sufficient to simply keep your body tight and not spread it out like that?

Anyways looking forward to more.

Funny how people can have such exact opposite reactions because I absolutely adore Amanchu's uniforms. I may have to do it as a cosplay when I go to a con next year. (Of course, I'm also into Victorian era clothing so perhaps not so surprising. The design is definitely more like the Victorian era Natural Form with a cropped jacket than Little House's prairie dresses.)

I don't mind the uniforms, and the mention of it mimicking a mermaid never crossed my mind..... but that's all I see now.

I really love the "muppet" style. Hikari's (while in "muppet" mode) reactions to the most mundane of things cracks me up. Futuba, too, although her reactions are kind of involving everything.

It transitions from funny "muppet" style bits to scenes of beauty perfectly. I'm really falling in love with this show!

I'm having trouble deciding on whether this or Sweetness & Lightning is this seasons Flying Witch for me. Whoop, whoop! Cha, cha, cha!

Amanchu! EP 2 / "The Story of Doing Something Bad With Hikari"

This is so good has that Non Non Biyori feel / 2nd EP set the pace / that race between Sensei and Hikari who is just so cool and enjoys life. / Then Hikari with her antics gets Futaba to go to the Diving Club where she tries on Scuba drysuits and gets talked into going into the pool which is off limits but discovers she wants to try diving.

Even Hikari admits she really pushed it ( those tears show it )

Episode 3

Futaba is still trying to fit in, and by that she's trying to figure out what club to join. After watching some cherry blossom trees, that got her to join the Diving Club on a trial basis. But before they go diving, Katori needs to lecture them on the essentials of diving from the increased pressure the deeper they dive, and the rule to always keep on breathing. That was pretty slow, but it did get Futaba to open up in a big way, while I learned a few more things about scuba diving.
