Episode 2 and this could be the best show of the season (excluding ReZero :P)

I like the murkiness of it all. How the invading republic seem like the good guys, taking in Empire refugees and asylum seekers, and the Emperor is the bad guy, setting up the legendary general to die. But without the emperor being some comedy over the top villain. Even the princess is conniving herself.

I got a Code Geass vibe from Ikta last episode, which continued this week.

I understand Yatori restraining and knocking out Ikta (especially when he gets too confrontational with the princess. Dude I know she's talking !@#$ about your family but calm the !@#$ down your strangling a little girl who also is a princess! Thank you Yatori ) but it feels like her loyalties can be divided in the future and and probably (but most likely not) might to have to make a choice between her Friends and Empire It probably won't happen). Don't get me wrong I like Yatori and I do wish Ikta will mature a bit in the future.

Even to this day we are just fodder for the people in power and their lobbyists. No matter what country you live in or what type of government you are born into. How many wars since "The War to End All Wars" WWI

I'm quite digging Alderamin. Once again fantasy action with political intrigue. Even the 12 year old Princess is shrewd.

So this bit with yatori beating up ikta is getting wack quickly. Other than that I like that show

Really enjoying this one. I was expecting to hate Ikta given the initial description of him (and how that character archetype usually plays out in anime) but he's actually a pretty well crafted character. It feels like they were maybe able to get back into the Empire a little quicker than I expected but I'm liking where the series is going regardless. One of the best of the season so far.

Why was the princess pretty much insulting Ikta when bringing up his parents? Did she not realize it is a touchy subject or was she being spiteful? I was originally under the impression that she was impressed and grateful that he saved her life and got them across the border

I like this so far, seems to me that the Empire are more so bad guys then the Republic. The king definitely had a bad guy aura especially his face

I suspect it was one part display of power and one part attention seeking. I'm certain the princess doesn't normally consort with types that blow their top the way Ikta did, so perhaps she is unfamiliar with the depth of anger that drove him to lose his cool. So she was probably thinking it wouldn't upset him as much as it did and that he may instead feel impressed and humbled by the effort she put into learning about his background.

Oh ok, that makes sense.

Also was wondering did she originally think that giving him the knight title would make him happy like the others and wasn't aware that is the last thing he wanted or did she already know this and disregarded his personal wishes just for a somewhat small political reason?

I think Ikta underestimated just how smart the princess really is. With Ikta's outburst to the general demonstrating how he'd seen straight through the emperor's plans, doing that in front of the princess was his first real mistake. I suspect the princess is trying to tear the Empire from within, and Ikta isn't some loyal dog who would die for his master. So forcing Ikta in to the army would help her considerably.

I don't think she ever thought about it from his point of view.

That makes perfect sense, it completely slipped my mind about how she hates her blood or whatever and wants to change the empire. Thanks for the reply the two questions I had are now explained

Am I the only one that fell in love with the lips on this anime? XD

I said I'd watch this anime just for the lips but the moment Yatori spoke. Omg! my favorite seiyuu Risa <3

The lips are great!

This week's episode was solid, and progressed things in a way that kept my interest. If those initial awkward introductions did nothing for actually letting me know anything about the characters, this episode has--through actions. I'm not that keen on political plots in general, so it's usually the personalities that will keep me interested, and that seems to have a good chance of happening.

Also, there's a nice blend of clarity, subtlety, and uncertainty balancing comfort in watching and tension at wondering how things will play out.

I like this show so far. I'll forgive the sloppy first 10 minutes.

The lips. I noticed them immediately, and then thought of Erased. But apparently different makers? Must be a style. I'm not a manga person, so I am sure others know more.
