I was trying to watch Ushio and Tora episode 23, but I gave up due to the ad length. If you really want to keep users around, then bombarding them with the following sequence of ads is definitely not the way to do it:

a 150 second ad, two 30 sec ads, and, lo and behold, a 240 second ad.

Making your users watch 450 seconds of ads is ridiculous, especially when they only appeared after the intro. A 150 second ad is bad enough. If crunchyroll is going down a path of 400+ second ad time at each stop then you can bet it will lose users. Definitely going to be watching that episode on gogoanime (and maybe the rest of the series).

I really like crunchyroll, and I'm willing to watch the ads. My suggestion: go back to your old amount of ads. They were very reasonable, and I'm sure you guys make good use of the money. However, I won't sit through more 200 seconds of ads, especially when other sites will let me watch without sitting through ads.

Hmm, ads really suck. That's why I got a premium membership pretty soon after discovering the Crunchyroll channel on Roku. I think it's totally worth it.

your only options:

1) deal with the ads
2) get a premium membership by paying CR
3) use non-legit sites to stream the same content without ads or le pirate at much better quality

with the excessive ads, i wonder how many would choose #2 as opposed to #3.

also: people already complained about the ads. nothing will be done about it (which sort of implies that the long ads are intentional)
