He was the one who wanted the characters to be puppets?

Watch episode 0 and it's all explained. It's also really interesting.

Absolutely stunning. I'm so happy we finally got a Taiwanese puppet drama with English subs; I suppose Eurobutcher is good for something other than Saya no Uta and Fate/Zero. I hope this leads to CR getting more of these shows.

Tried to post last week but the internet died and I lost the post.

Anyways, this show is awesome. It reminds me of the Dark Crystal, which I still enjoy watching. Music is great, characters are good, and the fight scenes are awesome.

The poor Shang dude just wants to go wander alone but keeps being hassled by all thse weird people. XD

Pipe dude is awesome.

Only problem I have with this show is that I fail at saying the Chinese/Taiwanese names. Doesn't help that they say them differently in Japanese.
A good dub would be nice for this show. Then I could focus more on the puppets.

Another fun eps. The exposition at the stat was a bit slow but necessary but the second half really picked up.

The spear guy was hilarious jumping in interrupting Shang fight. Loving the interplay between the the chars.

Can't wait for next week.

I just saw a few minutes of the promotional episode, one thing that immediately struck me was the frame rate. I'm being so used to seeing anime and stop motion being less than 24 frames a second(probably 12 frames or less in some cases), that seeing these puppets move in a fluid 60 frames per second was visually stunning.

Unfortunately, my husband can't watch the more active parts without getting a headache, but I am IN LOVE. This show is incredible. It's pure art.

Wondering when making the show if the VAs just do a dramatic read and then the puppeteers act it out or if its vice versus like doing an anime? I like the Va's doing the show and the story is good

It's explained in episode 0... Urobuchi wrote the script in Japanese, then it was translated into Mandarin and that's what the puppeteers read while filming the scenes with the puppets. Then, they translated the script back into Japanese (for any adjustments made while filming) and the Japanese voice actors dubbed over the original Mandarin dialogue that was used filming. It was a complicated process and in episode 0 they were talking about how amazed they were that the Japanese voice actors were able to fit some of their lines despite the line length and allotted time.

Urobuchi was also very excited about the cast they were able to get for the characters, and for good reason. They got an extremely talented cast.
