Episode 1

And so it begins with Mari traveling back in time to meet William Gilbert thanks to a special book. Earlier in the day, she saw Futa getting struck square in the chest with a ball, and Shun came to save the day. As it turns out, the book has the power to allow Mari to communicate. Wondering what's going on, Mari's father had been doing something underground seeing that he disappeared. That was a decent enough way to begin this show seeing that it is supposed to be kid-friendly there, and that was amusing to see Mari putting on that dress. It looks like something big is about to be revealed.

I think it was alright, felt more like watching a cartoon but the animation quality wasn't too good. However, there's the time travel gimmick that Mari experiences already. Speaking of which, I wonder what other historical settings she'll visit or possibly places in the future as well.

Theme songs are okay, nothing impressive so far imo. I'll keep watching this to see where it goes.

Trying to think of a word to describe it...... charming?

I love that it's trying to be educational by showcasing important people in the fields of science, but also tying into her father's research.

The chibi part after the ED .

Good first episode.

I bet there's going to be some kind of explanation for the time travel but one thing I don't get is how Mari and everyone in that era of London can't distinguish between English and Japanese. Nothing too important but this little detail might bug me eventually if it's forgotten within the show, and something tells me it's not a result of the time travel device thing. I'll be happy if I'm wrong, though.

i thought it was implying a universal translator was build in to the time machine. Usually they gloss over the fact every one understands each other, but by mentioning each other speaking a their own language they imply that something is at work

This just did very little for me. Is it supposed to be a show aimed at kids? It's sort of what it felt like in many parts, and it just didn't look very good at all. I guess there are some parts to the concept that have appeal but if it doesn't pick itself up in the next episode this is looking to possibly be my first real drop of the season.

This would actually have potential if it had a proper MC...

Time Travel Girl EP 1 / Gilbert the Sage

The list of inventors is imprressive / the family seems very nice but Mari's father is away a lot with work A classmate Futa gets hit with a baseball and needs CPR / Saved by Waka's brother. Mari and Waka were going to bake a cake but at Waka's lab Mari finds a book on William Gilbert and with computer on she gets transported to Gilbert's town where her father may have been Meanwhile Waka and Shuu goes to Dr Hatase's lab where they discover a hiiden room (but no acess ) The place is beibg watched for the DR's return and the ORG thinks it him

Just think w/ o these invebtors would we have anime at all ( something to think about! )

Good or bad / I am intigued at this part of the anime

What set the Pendant off ? and Mari's dad gave the bookit to Shuu for safekeeping

Is Mari going to find her dad?

This show definitely has potential. The animation quality is about on par with alot of current shows despite the character designs looking like they were mothballed from the second Bush presidency. The writing is actually very competent and helps give the show a Magic School Bus meets Doctor Who and Timeblazers vibe. That being said, this show is like Baccano (and 91 days let's be honest) in that it needs a dub badly. Here's hoping Funimation adds it to the Broadcast Dubs rollout along with Tales of Zestiria and Saiki K.

You uh...you do realize that's what anime is, right? -_-#

As to the show itself...

This is the main one I was waiting for this season, and I was not disappointed. There are definitely some strong Doctor Who vibes here (especially in that it purports to be what Doctor Who was originally supposed to be), I like the characters, and it has potential. And is educational!

My one complaint is the whole "cardiac arrest" thing. Seriously? The kid got hit in a chest by a ball that wasn't even thrown that hard, and somehow it sent him into cardiac arrest? That was more than a little contrived.

Why does this show feel like something that's made for kids. Oh, that's because it probably is..

The scene that sort of disturbed me was when the kid was being driven away by the ambulance and MC's best friend said, "Okay, now let's go bake that cake"....

Hey, the guy went into cardiac arrest and you worry about making a cake that he probably can't eat for a while? Hrm.. Despite that, the episode was okay. The whole going back in time thing for education is sort of weird, but let's see what happens!

I understood what you meant, something more Western and edutainment than we're used to in anime.
