I would pick freedom. Because then even if there wasn't equality I could either protest until I get the equality or leave. Indeed one would argue that without freedom there would be no equality. Without a free press, free assembly, free speech how would one go about protesting or agitating for equality? The struggles for equality we see today, the LGBTQ community, were not even a concern a few decades ago. How would they have brought attention to their grievances without the freedom to marshall the powers of speech, the press, assembly, and petition? Likewise, how can we today predict the social issues of the future?

Whereas a society dedicated to 'equality' would likely see the rise of a class that is more equal than others and without a system to correct that the equality would soon give was to an oligarchy or autocracy.

A free society on the other hand may not be equal but as history shows does tend to at least try to make progress towards equality before the law, in education, and liberty through which one may work through the powers of the press and speech to achieve equality.

I would say freedom with the limitation that you don't harm others is the best route.
I.E. You can do whatever you want as long as that does not impair the ability of someone else to do whatever they want.

I also do not see how this conflicts with equality at all...

We all have the freedom to die, and in dying we are equal. Everything else is just gravy.

We can look at the world today and see where the pursuit of 'equality' over all things will lead the world. Some people think that's a good thing.

We can look at the world today and see what evils freedom will allow to be heard and done. Some people support this.

Still, without freedom you will not have equality. Equality is essentially meaningless except as an axe to cut off the heads of their opposition.

Everyone is equal in death, and death is the only freedom the equal shall have.

sure makes sense to give my own opinion on the matter, felt like reading a bit before replying myself.

i agree that freedom is the more important of the 2 because without freedom you can't have equality at all for example societies can be highly equal but is governed by a dictator or tyrant so most people are equally oppressed, such as in mentioned to some degree earlier communist countries they were created originally with the general goal of a nearly impossible goal of utopian society were everyone is equal but many become at best just another dictatorship while at worst became truly tyrannical. and so when i see people taking their freedom for granted or even outright giving it away it makes me quite upset (angry sad etc).

though if you want pizza will have be ok with one covered in ghost pepper sauce, toxic pufferfish skin instead of cheese, bread with black mold instead of regular yeast etc also 1million dollars from each of you :)

Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness

equality can take a back seat when it comes to freedom. Freedom all the way.
