Emon Animation Company announced a new "supernatural power battle anime" tiled Hitori no Shita the outcast on Friday. The series is based on a Chinese web comic.

Shanghai Emon is planning the anime, and animation production will take place in Japan. Chinese web company Tencent owns the rights to the original comic.

Plot Summary

The protagonist, Cho Soran, leads a very common college student's life until he finds himself caught up in a terrible incident that happened in a small village. As he was walking through a graveyard, Cho Soran is assaulted by zombies. Thinking that it was over for him, a mysterious girl carrying a sword suddenly saves him and disappears.

This strange encounter is going to change drastically the fate of our hero.

Episode 1

And so it begins with a grave robber, and the grandson of that man coming home to the village to remember him. That woman who dug up the grave happens to be the MC's older sister that he didn't know about. Or not as Baobao faked her ID. It turns out that someone else was the grave robber and she used a cleaver to send those zombies back to the dead. And Baobao ends up following Chulan to college. I was just totally bored by this show, so that will be it seeing that I didn't have high hopes for anything.

So...it's pretty much a zombie theme series with some bits of mystery.

I find the MC's sister to be rather strange. Does she have much of a personality? Not yet by the looks of it.
Honestly, I'm not impressed by the storytelling yet and the animation style doesn't feel too unique either.

Episode 1: The Zhang Family's Secret

I'm sorry but I could not help but think that Baobao was Kotonoha from School Days all grown up cause she was swinging a cleaver and chopping heads off XD.

Anyways, I thought it was okay. I like the little zombie aspect, but that's probably the only thing that's gonna keep me coming back. I like undead type of stuff.

Japanese to Chinese translations for the names. Would rather them use the literal Japanese but it works out as showing that it's based in China and not Japan if I am correct.

I'll be around for next episode. Can't say the same for many others.

Was anyone else cheering on Baobao to shovel faster when she was burying Cho? Anything to stop that whiny, non-stop chatter.

And that plot summary isn't quite what happened in that first episode.

This doesn't look too good, but I'm a bit on the desperate side to find some interesting anime this season.

For whatever reason, I liked it. The opening grabbed me as soon as I heard the death metal screams. Dunno what DT is. DeTox was my first thought, but I guess it's some slang for virgin. The main character is dumb as a stump and can't just lift himself out of the hole?

Yeah, DT is short for doutei, which means male virgin.

I kind of liked this show. Not a big fan of zombies or mysteries, but done right I can enjoy them well enough. This first episode gave just enough of a taste of what's happening, but left it with enough to still find out that I'm genuinely curious.

This MC was possibly the most retarded one i've seen in anime. First he gets pushed into a grave that is no more than 1 meter tall, and apparently he's unable to get out of it. If that wasn't funny enough, he then proceeds to get overwhelmed by 2-3 shovels of dirt, so much that he can't even move his body.

I mean, I guess it's fine that holes in logic can be present, but this guy is on a whole other level

He might be suffering from a concussion; which has symptoms like headache, confusion, lack of coordination, memory loss, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, ringing in the ears, sleepiness, and excessive fatigue. His head did get hit pretty hard by that shovel. Either that or he's a bit incompetent.

So this one is based on a Chinese web comic? That's pretty cool. I'm curious if it can distinguish itself from other power battle series. I'll continue this one since the first episode was decent and Saori Hayami's lovely voice is in it.

Gonna chime in an agreement on the overall bland, boring blahness of this one.

Err, no. The characters' names were always Chinese, because this is based on a Chinese webcomic. (Listen to Uncle! Always do RESEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAARCH!)

(Seriously, always do research. I always spend at least 5-10 minutes before starting a show's first episode researching it to the best of my abilities. Mostly because I blog everything I watch...)

Wow, seriously? Because in just the past week I've found fifteen new things to follow, which is more than twice as many as I was watching in the spring season. Did you somehow miss Taboo-Tattoo? Qualidea Code? Planetarian? Sweetness & Lightning? Active Raid season 2? Momokuri? Hell, even Pazudora Cross is better than this steaming pile of blah.

What I meant was you'll never hear them actually say Baobao or Zhang Chulan. They'll say the Japanese equivalent much like they say, for example, Kan'u Unchou as Guan Yu. Should have been a bit clearer.

Ahh, okay. Yeah, I get what you were saying now. Eh, chalk that up to kanji readings, pronunciation differences between the two languages, etc. Chinese names are hard for Japanese people to say.

So that mysterious girl has her "servant" now. I almost took this episode seriously because of the brief background story about Soran and that fight. But then, the ending happened. Really? He basically got destroyed by a girl he barely knows. Well whatever, I'll give it one more episode to see where this goes.
