I don't know what Pokemon Go is. Never heard of it. Don't care.

I don't have a smart phone and everyone else seems crazy about it, everyone expects me to have played it even though I've told them a lot that I don't play it. Gets a bit tiresome.

OP is overreacting a bit.

The game is really encouraging a lot of people to get outdoors, and there's a lot of social interaction happening that wouldn't have happened otherwise. It really is a nice event unfolding.

In addition, most stories about Pokemon GO and tragedies are not true. The worst that happened is that someone found a corpse in a river.

Well when every other facebook post I see is just a screen shot of the list of pokemon people have caught, it gets old really fast. Would rather see either normal updates/news, or if it has to be pokemon then the pictures of an ekans coming out of a dudes pants.

As for the negative stories, how about the 3 guys who lured people to isolated areas with beacons and robbed any foolish people who showed up. http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/11/tech/pokemon-go-crazy-events/

What about privacy issues, you are giving the app permission to track and store everywhere you have been, when you have been there, and how long you stayed, as well as any other data the app has the ability to access. https://www.buzzfeed.com/josephbernstein/heres-all-the-data-pokemon-go-is-collecting-from-your-phone?bftwnews&utm_term=.kyl1W33DXD#.ify2n33yry

Either way, good or bad, having to see it everywhere all the time gets annoying, in the same way I can't stand to listen to the top 40's stations because its the same 4 songs played with a few others mixed in between those.

Well at least you actually have to go outside instead of being a lazy fat slob. Some of the people playing probably haven't even been outside given that it's summer vacation and nw they have a reason to

Privacy issues have been rubbished. http://www.recode.net/2016/7/11/12154354/pokemon-go-niantic-google-permissions

And yes, people will be robbed if they are on their phones not paying attention to surroundings. Not a Pokemon GO specific issue.

I don't use Facebook so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I love this game, I'm so glad I have so many places I can go to to catch pokemon

I can totally see how this might causes accidents and crashes though

Part of the problem, with all these Pokemon GO stories clogging news feeds, actually has to do with the decline of news media across the world. To make a long story short: the quality of journalism has been declining for years. Media outlets are expected to create more content every year while also constantly cutting back on staff.

This has led to a rise in more clickbait articles, cheap copy that requires little effort to create but can still be quickly circulated among an outlets readership/viewership. So, into this mess arrives Pokemon GO, a crude geocaching game available for free on most smartphones. The exploits of hapless Pokemon GO users provide all the clickbait fodder that the media could ever ask for.

At least for a time anyway, once the story becomes stale the media will drop Pokemon GO and pretend that the game never even existed. That's the cruelty of the 24-hour news cycle; the talk of the town one week, derided and forgotten in the following weeks.

See, this is the type of game I really don't care about. I'd even go as far as to say I dislike it, because it looks like an enormous time sink.

I have too little time anyway, always, every day, to be playing games meant to occupy time with a gimmick or short and sweet gameplay (this means most mobile games obviously.)

I guess, if I'm at an event that I HAVE to be at, and I need to pass some time because I really hate whatever that event is, something like Pokemon Go would appeal to me, but I avoid events I don't want to sit through like the plague, much like I avoid the time-waster genre.

I know what you're saying but if a phone game is whats required to get someone outside that's honestly just sad man

I have it but I fail to see the overwhelming appeal it has on most people. My laziness still beats my desire to go out and catch pokemon, so yeah... I don't think it's that great.
