I always play female healers and yeah people hit on my character on and off. I just troll them away though :P

No, never. People always roughly treated me the same no matter what I played.

same

as a girl i can say i've never had anything like that happen when i played mmorpgs. the only thing i dealt with, and it was just one time, was a legit misogynist. honestly would rather deal with stupid flirty remarks than someone like that

In all honesty I have had it happen in any mmo I played but the weird thing was my biggest one was playing runescape when I was in middle school - high school so go figure. Anyway after runescape in all honesty learned to just play solo and mostly ignored people. Now I really don't play mmos anymore in all honesty so haven't had it happen in a long time.

Edit: Oh there was also this one time in runescape someone thought I actually wasn't a girl so all him and friends ganged up on me about it. All because I said something that made him think I was actually a boy. That was the only incident I had though in all honesty.

Oh never mind there was this once time I tried playing an mmo and the guy was trying to hit on me and was willing to give me over 100k in items and money but I never talked to him like he was expecting. So more then likely assumed I was a guy and never responded or gave me any of the stuff he said he would.

So in all honesty I mostly play solo and stick to my self. I see it as people can think whatever they want I mean in the end it's just a game in all honesty. Yeah you are supposed to play with a group and whatnot but most of the time you can solo everything unless it truly is a mmo involving team work but try to avoid those in all honesty. Don't want to be hit on or mistaken as a guy all because I don't say anything or something that makes them think I'm not actually a girl but like I said rarely play mmos anymore.

I've played both genders on MMO's as well. I was never hit on or anything but I was surprised that most people assumed everyone was playing their own gender. Probably because I've never considered the character I'm playing as an avatar of myself. It's more about creating a cool or attractive looking character of my taste.

Hm, I have played as a woman on a few games. Mainly just for fun.

I don't think I have really ran into the issue as greatly as you stated. In fact more people think I am a girl when I have my avatar as a male due to the way I act on the internet!

If you want to play an MMO without having to worry about gender. Play TERA. Everyone is suspicious and everything is sexualized to hell. Pity the combat system is one of my favorites.

You had issues on Runescape? I played that game for far too many days accumulative days! 273 days or ~6552 hours. I very rarely met anyone on there who was that way to girls. Of course we all tended to be older high leveled. Usually had the girls coming to us for our money and what not.

Always skyped with those "chicks" and chicks to make sure they were real. Actually met some female friends who I later met up with IRL on there. The only time I saw issues with girls in in Free to Play. Go to world 1 Lumbridge and you would see "looking for gf, 50k gold to share!" Stuff like that. I had too much fun there.

The only time I have seen even a little issue with being a girl was in League of Legends. Probably has to do with the current generation and their ages.

Eh, I mangina'd in WoW since I dislike Blizzard's neckless roid ogre artstyle for male characters. I didn't get bothered too much. The key to being generally left alone is:

1) Wear pants. If you treat your character as a sex object so will everyone else.
2) Make a character that is taller than the average height of the most popular race. Creepers typically aren't secure enough in their masculinity to look up. Bonus points if you have larger biceps than they do.
3) Never, ever, ever, EVER, ever play a female elf or anything remotely elf like. EVER.

I always play a female elf with long white hair though. DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO :c

Also my elves are taller though. I have a great love for the Fair Folk of lore.

I play Black Desert, where your class determines your gender. If you want to play a Ranger (my main class), you have no choice but to be female, so I find that people tend to be nicer and not as sexist because the Sorceress on their right could be a boy, and the burly Berserker on their left could be a girl.

Just tell them you want to butt fuck them in the butthole, that will shut them up real quick.

Yeah got hit on a lot actually. Plus was never a member at all was 100% free to play. So makes sense in my opinion high level members would be nice. Do to the fact they didnt want to get banned or anything, do to paying and long hours put in. While free players you get banned you just made another account. So yeah free play wasnt all that great.

League of legends only played that game a little bit (have a low end laptop) but from little I played no issues.

this

only time it got weird was that one time I went full crossplay status.

The entire time I was thinking, "omg is the jig up? " felt like I was undercover, like a spy.

it was fun though

As a female, I've found that I definitely get treated differently when playing video games in comparison to my male fiance. However, I do find it funny that men act this way towards female chars in games, because 90% of the time the player is actually male and just prefer to have a female avatar to play as while pouring hundreds of hours into questing.
