Get a glimpse at the personal sanctuary of women from all walks of life.

Sometimes when you are creating a story, it’s not just the living characters that you have to think about. Often where a person spends most of their time, like a bedroom, gives people a peek into how your characters think. The best spaces are so quirky and charming that every now and then they can become characters unto themselves. However, maybe you are a clean freak and just can’t imagine a room that has that much appeal. Never fear, because they’ve created a book just for the struggling but cleanly manga artist.

Who would have thought you would need reference photos for rooms — men and women fighting, sure, we get it — but stationary living spaces? Well, there must be some demand for it, because Onago Room by Shiori Kawamoto promises over 250 pages of reference photos of girl’s rooms. Oddly, this is actually Kawamoto’s second photo book about rooms, but her first one was based around the theme of “depravity”. You can definitely see a bit of that influence still in these rooms as the women chosen for this book often seem to live in spaces where you can barely see the floor.

Onago Room has photos from 102 models, which probably means that whatever you wanted to set into your art, something helpful will show up somewhere in these pages. You’ll be able to find the exact eccentricity that will turn your normal, boring characters into ones of depth and originality. Just make sure you include a path for them to walk into and out of their rooms! You’ll be able to find Onago Room at bookstores in Japan, or online from Amazon Japan for 2,484 yen (US$24) on July 27, 2016.

This feels like an ad to buy a book.

I'm surprised this is a revelation for some. Women fangirl over stuff too and like to have rooms that reflect that. Just like men.

I don't know anyone with bedrooms that look like these. They're small and stuffed with too much stuff. This is coming from a person who does not live in a mansion.

Lol, it did say the rooms of models in the article. I dont think it really captures the average girls room correctly. Most are just neat and kind of basic from my personal experiences. Maybe a few posters, but usually bare walls and some sort of laptop that makes a slightly tech savvy person cringe. Theres often some sort of instrument like the piano or violin in their room or somewhere in their house.

But whatever. The rooms in the photos above are very colorful and nice to look at. So meh.

It sort of seems like a misrepresentation or what someone who has never been in a girl's room thinks a girl's room looks like.
Posted 7/13/16
^ that.

Never understood the sentiment of having a girl in your room or going into a girls room being a big deal.

typical girls room:

bookshelf with several literary works + a few plushies, some of them received as a birthday gift.
add anime figures + manga if she's an anime fan (that spends money on anime)

a small table or a drawer, with make-up items on top, organized according to her needs. lipstick, eyeliner, mascara, eye brush, etc.
maybe also a nail polish or two next to them. nail polish remover inside a drawer, hidden from view.
(though those items could be placed in the bathroom instead)

a wardrobe with at least 3 different hand bags (depending on occasion), and plenty of clothes (some more, some less fashionable)
maybe some of which is from forever21.

a table for studying + a laptop or desktop. probably running windows.

pretty much.

edit: and also a tall mirror so you can see any flaws in clothes / blemishes/etc or to help with clothes coordination
