I haven't seen a pit at anything other than a metal show, but pretty much every type of show has it's own flavour of lively people. One of the most energetic and into the music crowds at a show I've been to was probably at a Hatsune Miku show, and the majority of those attending hadn't even been drinking.

I've only been in a pit a few times. I think the oddest one was at a Circa Survive concert. People were mosh in and even the band questioned why there was a fucking mosh pit since they are an indie rock band.

I quickly ran into a pit during a Cannibal Corpse set...and quickly ran out before I got messed up.

Yea it sucked. Kids in their pre teens were there and someone thought it was a great idea to crowdsurf and actually kicked one of those kids in the face. Before that some guy was flipping off the opening acts for no reason. It was probably one of worse concert experiences I personally have had. Otherwise my concert experiences have been fairly good

I think the pit is as fun as you make it. It's the closest bit to the band so it's worth it to go there in my opinion. I listen to indie music so it's not usually super lively but that doesn't mean the pit isn't fun, sure it's not as fun if not as many people dance, it just depends on the temp of the crowd and the band. I went to a show recently that was super dancy and it was great, saw the Shins and ehhh, I was in the pit but it was mostly teens and people smoking joints. Good music but by the end I was mostly thinking about how much my legs hurt from standing forever.

Lol pits usually go up at more rock oriented genres (punk/hardcore, metal, etc.), though I went to a seshollowaterboyz show (lol i legit only payed just to take a piss inside tbh) and people were moshing lol. but for the most part i don't think they're much pits at rap/hip hop shows.

Last pit i was in was at a La Dispute / Envy (goat) show. i'd be in more pits if i didn't mostly go to diy shows with like 15 ppl (most being from the other bands playing lol).
