Always used charcoal, myself. Hauled charcoal, the heavy crap.

Propane is for firebats.

Whatever I feel like at the time. I don't really care. If I really had to choose, though, I suppose I prefer propane. I like to baste my meat liberally and generously as I grill, and using propane means that I don't worry about putting out any charcoal.

my personal preference is propane because i'm super lazy. Charcoal gives a better flavor though.
Just my opinion.

Charcoal if I want flavor.

Propane if I want ease.

Wood if I want time+flavor to be the best.

Both. Sometimes i like the ease of propane and taste all the condiments and what not and there are other times when i want to taste the good smoaky flavor you get fro charcoal.

I prefer propane, I hate grilling with charcoal. If I want to fix something with a lot of flavor I'll throw something into the smoker.

is always going to taste better if you cook with charcoal but it's easier and faster to do it with propane

I've always disliked any food put on a grill, leaves disgusting burn marks (grill grate markings). Absolutely ruins the flavor imo. Good food gets prepared properly; on a pan or in the oven.
