Why are some people born unlucky and different than others?
Posted 7/12/16 , edited 7/12/16
This reminds of that speech by Emperor Charles zi Britannia

"All men ... are NOT created equal! Some are born swifter afoot, some with greater beauty, some are born into poverty and others born sick and feeble. Both in birth and upbringing, in sheer scope of ability every human is inherently different; Yes that is why people discriminate against one another, which is why there is struggle, competition and the unfaltering march of progress. Inequality is not wrong, equality is. What of the E.U. which made equality a right? Rabble politics by a popularity contest. The Chinese Federation with its equal distribution of wealth? A nation of lazy dullards. But not our beloved Britannia, we fight, we compete, evolution is continuous. Britannia alone moves forward, advancing steadily into the future. Even the death of my son, Clovis, demonstrates Britannia's unswerving commitment to progress. We will fight on, we shall struggle, compete, plunder and dominate, and in the end, the future shall be ours. ALL HAIL BRITANNIA!!!!!"

Nobody is unlucky, you're implying they chose that...Luck is something where an individual made with their own actions. How can a baby with a deformity choose that life? So, being unlucky is not about favors, it is about genetic defects.

I'm sorry, but 'fairness' is a human concept.
Nowhere else in nature does a creature curse the indifference of the universe as if it was something personal.
Fairness is something that the human race should do all it can to achieve. otherwise we are just another beast in the field.

It's not a matter of luck, shit happens, that's it, I got stuck with cancer a few years ago, I beat it and moved on. Sometimes you just gotta play the hand you've been dealt.

Whilst alot of peoples "luck" is often due to their own actions and life style and choices, it cannot be denied that some people are just seemingly born lucky or just very very lucky whilst others seem to be very unlucky.
Of course sometimes people that do well are just healthy or just get what they get or have got due to making it happen but i've know some people that just seem to be lucky.
Like win at gambling alot and i dont mean gambling that takes skill i mean random gambling. That's just an example.

But when i first read the thread title i thought it might be more about looks or penis or boob size which of course would be more about genetics rather than luck.

I do believe in the term "you create your own luck" but at the same time we all get really bad luck that is out of our hands and control, same with iam sure that all of us get some really good luck.

I feel that i have had alot of bad luck in my life, some very bad luck but at the same time i have had some very very good luck.
I think iam lucky to be alive or not have gotten beat up or locked up in some cases. And sometimes you get random luck with a girl or something.
But some "luck" it could be argued that you made it happen, you got out there, you behaved in a certian way to cause that luck. Like i think sometimes your own actions or choices that you make can bring good or bad luck.
I even think that some people can cuase it for you, to an extent.

I feel sometimes you just seem to go through phases where you get constant good luck and phases where its just an extended run of bad luck.

You see it in sport, sometimes its just the way the ball bounces.

I guess even bad health isn't necessarily bad luck, it can also be genetics or lifestyle choices. But i see what OP means. Like say two siblings or twins even, one gets cancer the other dose not or one is born disabled the other is not. That would seem like "luck"
And kids that get cancer. That is terrible luck. That is just cruel and unfair.

That's awesome man. And yep true that. We all get bad luck and go through shit. Yes some worse than others but you really do have to accept it and move on. But iam sure in some cases, such as yours it would be much more difficulit.

I feel like I am insanely lucky. Really. I haven't really met someone who is super unlucky though. I just know someone I hate who used to spend all his money on games and has very poor judgement.

Why are we born at all? To feed the amusement of the gods who play with us.

To be fair, actually being born at all is like winning the lottery, when you consider the number of eggs, chance of fertilisation, etc.
