I was wondering if anyone was like me. I am 28 years old and I have graduated high school and when to college and have my associates degree in welding technology. After school I worked at a couple of shops welding and then I got my dream job for a few years and then I got laid off back in January. Since I lost my job to foreign competition I qualify for the Trade Act program to go back to school for re-education. I decided to go back and learn HVAC-R. I am now in my second week of classes and I was wondering if anyone else has had to make a massive career change in their lives and return to school as an adult? I never thought I would be 28 years old and doing homework again.

My university has a ton of those people seeking reeducation. It is an admirable thing you are doing.

I have to make a massive career change, but I don't think any of the higher education fascists in this city can find their asses with a map and a team of immigrant workers.
It's somewhat problematic.

I haven't had to go back to school (well just recently graduated) but had a couple of classmates who where. It seemed a little tough for them at first, especially if they have children to take care off, but they adjusted fine and eventually did better than most students. It was as if they had a sense of urgency that a lot of kids don't have.

Studying HVAC-R is a solid choice. There will always be a need for those guys.

Yep, I got my bachelor's degree back in 2013. Going for my master's this fall so it's a little different. Anyhow, going back to school after taking a long break isn't going to be easy, I've been spending months just reviewing my undergraduate notes so I don't drown first semester. (Mech Eng. major)

Possibly. Iam going to be made redundant in the near future. I plan to use some government funding to do some for or course(s) but not sure if i will actually go back to school or not.

Well mother started the family tradition of always keeping up with studies even when you have a career so now all four of her offspring, study to upgrade or for a change every 3 years of so. She went and did her masters as soon as her youngest turned 18. It's a struggle to juggle studies and full time work with everyday life. There's a lot of stopping and starting going on.

I'm going back to graduate school soon. I would have started already, but I had to drop my classes for the time being.
