Here's a thought, it pointing out a woman's unattractiveness sexist, particularly if it has nothing to do with the topic at hand?

I think it is. It feels as if you're devaluing their worth to their appearance because their argument is something you rather not confront.

What do you think?

If your doing it because they're a woman then yes your sexist.

If your doing it because you want to be an asshole and feel like insulting and demeaning ugly people for the audacity to walk around in daylight then no, you'd be a lot of other things but not sexist.

At the very least it's a mean thing to do.

It's not a good idea, but I don't think it's sexist.

I don't think so, no. The sort of people who insult a woman's appearance to belittle them would also tend to belittle men for their appearance. They're equal opportunity belittlers. They work for the belittlement of mankind as a whole, and not simply to shame people because they'll never find a mate, will die alone and unloved, and only are in that line of work, having that conversation, because they have a face like a bulldog run over by a bulldozer.

I think a greater problem is how it creates these flickering, flighty feelings in people that make them need to LEAP to the defense of the poor, denigrated woman, the sexists, because her very womanliness has been attacked by the evil brute who isn't even talking about the topic at hand but is instead attacking this angel of mercy, this paragon of womanly virtue who only wants to do something for someone somewhere supposedly.

It's not sexsit if they are unattractive to you.
However if you were a feminist saying men are ugly because you think they are mistake of nature (yes the modern sjw feminists think this) then yes it's sexist if you thought the same way about a woman.
I do see this as a weird thing to ask if I find some unnatractive it usually because they are too me despite their gender. Now I'm sure radicale feminists would say it is sexist to say their ugly even if they are.

It's more mean rather than sexist.

No, insulting a woman's looks doesn't make you sexist. It just makes you a dick.

No it just makes you an ass.

Also if this is comming up during a debate or argument then that's probably just him trying to find something to fight back with since they can't actually argue back but they don't want to give up.

Without more context, I label it as "immature deflection." The assumption of "it's because I'm a woman" sounds simultaneously self-defeating and egotistical, to me.

Nope. Sexism is discrimination based on sex. It's bad when you start assuming insults are based on a hidden motivation. You might be right in some cases, but in majority you're going to be making a bunch of false positives.

Depends, would you have made that same comment on their appearance if it was not a woman?

No not really. Rude, of course. Sexist would be implying one sex is superior than another and simply pointing out someone is unattractive in your opinion doesn't fit that definition.
