Seems like a pretty simple question, really. Was it brought up because of the stereotype that feminists these days turn everything into sexism? I don't think that many anime fans are feminists (though correct me if I'm wrong).

No, insulting a woman's looks doesn't make you sexist. It just makes you a dick.

No it just makes you an ass.

Also if this is comming up during a debate or argument then that's probably just him trying to find something to fight back with since they can't actually argue back but they don't want to give up.

Without more context, I label it as "immature deflection." The assumption of "it's because I'm a woman" sounds simultaneously self-defeating and egotistical, to me.

Nope. Sexism is discrimination based on sex. It's bad when you start assuming insults are based on a hidden motivation. You might be right in some cases, but in majority you're going to be making a bunch of false positives.

Depends, would you have made that same comment on their appearance if it was not a woman?

No not really. Rude, of course. Sexist would be implying one sex is superior than another and simply pointing out someone is unattractive in your opinion doesn't fit that definition.

As per usual, this is a reference to Trump. Why do I think he's sexist? Simple, he singles out women on their appearances rather than the merit of their arguments, versus how he treats men. If the woman in general is unattractive, I expect him to point that out. If the woman is overweight, I expect him to point that out.

In honesty? I didn't want to make this a Trump topic but I was just wondering in that specific case, though I guess I should think twice before assuming a motive however.

Keep in mind the "no connection" criteria. I think this is also a case of "usually sexist, but not 100%", but this is just my experience with men who in general tend to single out women for their appearances.

I think generally it could be thought of as sexist, because it comes from the belief that a woman's appearance is more important than what she has to say.

As others have said if you insult anyone's appearance, regardless of their gender, you're just salty, but that doesn't really answer the question properly.
It depends on if you only insult women based on their appearance, which is kinda misogynistic. Probably stems from gender roles. Women are expected to look pretty and stuff..

A lot of people say no, but in 90+% of cases, it probably is.

I mean, most people wouldn't go to a man and talk about how they look unattractive unless they're on late night comedy or something (no offense to late night comedians; I watch that stuff too), however for some reason it's a lot more acceptable/common to do it to women. That's sexism (yes, even if girls are commenting on another girl's appearance. You can be ...-ist to your own category).

This is probably more important to talk about than the technicalities of if something's sexist or not.
