Game comes out this Summer. Anyone else excited? It's a HUGE open world sci-fi adventure game about exploration, gathering, etc where there will be "18 Quintillion Planets". The developers mentioned that almost 99% of the game's universe will not be explored and the chance of encountering another player is almost 0.

Meanwhile, I think the game has a lot of potential and players are free to do what they want like discovering new species, trading, upgrading/purchasing spacecraft/weapons, etc.

I've been following this game since I heard how it's supposed to be an "open universe", honestly anybody who likes open world games will most likely be very interested in No Man's Sky. The idea has incredible potential, and I'm really hyped to play this, but I'll have to go with low expectations because this game has been so hyped that some people will obviously feel disappointed at even the smallest flaw. It's better to be surprised by watching the success of the original idea than just complain about the things that were promised but not delivered.

I believe in the developers, they clearly gave everything to make this game, I really want to see this succeed, and it looks like it will. I can't wait to play it.

I might get the game, but I expect to get bored after 10-20 hours. I hope the game exceeds my expectations, doubt it though.

EDIT: After watching some of that video one of the first things that come to disappointment are the creatures. Considering the planet's climate it wouldn't make sense for creatures like the one's shown to really exist, not by my understanding anyway. I'm guessing whatever program they used to generate creatures didn't involve any sort of conditional framework on what creatures would form where based on the planet's overall climate. It's not something game breaking, (though it may be for some) I'd just appreciate a little consistency among creature aesthetics when landing on different climate zones. Randomness between creatures within the same climate is fine but randomness between all climates would be upsetting to say the least

I was excited about this several months ago, but my ardor has cooled quite a bit.

I might get it although this game is either going to be a major hit or a major let down. I don't know if I'm going to pre-order it or if I'm going to wait for the reviews to come out.

If it turns to be good I might get it, but I am in no rush as I have plenty of open world games to keep me busy.

I'm really upset it won't be on Xbox. This game is perfect for me, and I've been following it for so long. My PC won't be able to run it, so I was hoping that they would have a PS4 for sale on Amazon Prime Day... but they didn't. (Of course Xbox's were on sale, too bad I already have one. -_-)

Looks like I'll be blowing $350 to get myself a PS4. If you're wondering why I won't just wait until Christmas or Black Friday or whatever, it's because I really want to get the game while it's new.

In all honesty I'm somewhat hoping that this game will fail. It's gotten so much hype but the main things I hear is that you can go to millions of planets... And do what exactly? Just dick around? Granted I haven't been following it so idk if they incorporated a story or not but as far as I've seen it's not looking good, then again I have been wrong about these things before but only when it's released will we be able to tell.

It looks amazing and I'm excited to see what it has to offer, but I'm going to wait until reviews come out before I buy it. I want to be sure the game is worth my money rather than preordering it right away.

Personally, I was all in on buying it until I found out what the price was going to be. I absolutely feel that they should charge whatever price they feel the game is worth and the market will tell them whether that's a mistake or not but for me the price is just too high. Something about the game just doesn't feel like something I'll be able to get that sort of value out of whereas if it was maybe half the price I'd be willing to gamble on it. Of course, once the game is out and once I've inevitably seen more of the game being played in non-guided demo/showroom settings, I may certainly change my mind so who knows.

I'll be waiting for reviews. As much as I want the game to succeed, it looks like a giant hit or miss, and I won't shell out $60 for a giant miss.

I'm fairly ambivalent about it.

Most of the gameplay footage I've seen lacks the depth I think the game will need to hold much longevity. Procedural content generation is nice and all, but you don't typically see Minecraft players raving about how many square miles of land they can explore - eventually it all starts to look kind of the same.

Barring anything else with sufficient depth to do, it boils down to how many samey planets and samey alien critters you can point a scanner at before the thrill of "discovery" wears off.

Unless the game truly appears to be exceptional after release, I'll skip it. I'm not an Explorer-type gamer on the Bartle test, after all, and what they've shown of the other activities in the game (combat, trade, survival, etc.) have been handled better and with more depth by other games.

Initially I was excited about this game but that seems like a long time ago now. This game is taking forever to get released which is concerning since my fear is that either the scope of the game is too big or the developer's can't figure out how to make this game fun. I have pretty much lost interest in the game at this point.
