well I was hoping it wouldn't be a "tech demo" and it was more or less that.

sad how they made it look like a "real game"...
How the trailers is going to be the same exp in-game, but not in the slightest...
Good I didn't buy into that crap.

Sad it wasn't nearly as incredible as they preached it to be. Though, as an explorer, I'm still having a great time playing No Man's Sky. I've found some pretty breathtaking planets so far, and that's really my number one reason for playing at this point.

This planet looks so much like Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Broke my heart I finally had to leave the solar system and never get the chance to come back =[ Would put that one as one of my favorites if I could.

Yeah, it's no where near worth a full priced game. It's just Sony capitalizing on the hype is the way I see it. Plus, the fact that it was Sony that backed this game is all the more reason why they made it full price. It really was a mistake not making this a multiplayer experience. There's a reason why Minecraft is so successful...

I don't think minecraft was successful because it had multiplayer, I think it was just the atmosphere and music that was put into the game. It was hugely hyped in the alpha beta phases o_o (pre order galore)

While I didn't buy it, No Man's Sky broke my hopes and dreams in more ways than one. I knew it couldn't be as grand as Sean Muarry said it would, but it's a completely empty game and he should br ashamed... Played it for 6hours at a friends and we were completely disappointed.

I feel that like this puts better words into it.

Single highhandedly wins the biggest disappointment in gaming of the current decade, followed closely by Bungie's Destiny.

I'm normally not that critical about video games not meeting expectations, I expect that the experience won't be perfect and it won't be EVERYTHING people are hoping it to be, but...This game, is a failure. Literally everything that it does that involves space, Elite Dangerous does better, a lot better. I've put maybe 6 hours into NMS and I've tried my hardest to like it. I wanted to like it, I love exploration and I love space, so how could I go wrong with a game like this?

My post up above? literally none of what I wanted to do in my post up above can be done. You can't even AIM at the ground unless it's near the horizon. I could go on and on about the ways this game falls short, and I expected the hype to ruin it to an extent, but the PROMISES made by the devs were pretty much all lies. ALL! There were a lot of them!

These are sad times we live in, and Hello Games are dirty thieves.

So I rarely board hype trains and I somewhat avoided the hype train with this game. Given that my expectations were low from the get-go, it being this much of a disappointment is unforgivable. I don't think it would be nearly as big an outrage if the developer didn't specifically say it would have feature after feature that it doesn't have and was never going to have.

So, does anyone even expect Hello Games to release patches aside from their first hotfix? I'm doubtful to be honest, there's way too much stacked against them here. Certainly, any patches they do release won't be sufficient to add much of what was promised into the game, because it seems to be in the core mechanics of the game.

I'd gladly try any updates / expansions (but not pay for them). I have a feeling since they already have all our money, they're enjoying a martini in the Bahamas. Hurricane Matthew should have taken care of that by now though.

They posted what the next three patches would focus on, but as far as I know they've release one patch and that was a little more than a month ago. So who knows. Even if they do patch all the problems I wouldn't buy it.

Maybe modders can add stuff assuming they have any interest.

What will happen first, Sean Murray apologising for lying or Yoshihiro Togashi returning from hiatus?

They could pull a CD Projekt and release a complete overhaul of the game.

The Witcher was a rather buggy, incomplete mess when it was first released, but the developer kept working on it and released the enhanced edition - which was also given to everyone who already owned the game as a free >2 gigabyte patch. As I recall, it featured improved graphics, more and better voice acting, etc. They just went through the laundry list of reviewer and customer complaints and addressed everything they could.

Now, that's not to say I actually expect Hello Games to follow in the footsteps of what is probably one of the most consumer-friendly game developers around, but they could.. maybe... possibly.

Last I heard they're under investigation by some Advertising agency in the UK. As I understand it, the group doesn't have a lot of teeth, so it isn't like Sean Murray is going to be fined into poverty but it's something, I suppose, for people who felt duped by the developers.

I seriously want my money back right now. After this, I'm never pre ordering a game unless I've had a good history with it.

There were so many lies in the game, and the worlds were extremely repetitive. I knew that it would get a bit boring after a while, but this was too quick. I've gotten immediately tired of the game right after 5 planets. A bunch of stupid grinding and crafting with no sense of purpose at all. And the ending is

Since I can't get a refund from steam, the most I can do is hope that sean murray at least makes it 10% worth what I payed for.

History means nothing, you either go all out or not at all. Rocksteady had good history put Arkham Knight was trash.

2K had good history but Mafia III is a shitty port.

Don't preorder games fullstop. It doesn't make sense as a practise.

On average games are 70% off 6 months after release, you have no reason to preorder these games at full $60 price.
