For prior conversation in anticipation of this show see /forumtopic-944103/tv-anime-battery-announced-for-summer

Battery The Animation

Plot Summary:

Takumi Harada moves to a mountain town in Okayama prefecture during the spring break before he enters middle school due to his father's job transfer. Takumi is a pitcher, and after the moves he loses faith in his own talent, when suddenly his classmate Kō Nagakura appears in front of him. Kō has a strong desire to form a "battery" (a combination of a pitcher and catcher) with Takumi. (from ANN)

Available on Amazon Prime Video.

I'm loving new opportunities to use my Amazon Prime membership, and even though I didn't like Ace of Diamond at all, I do tend to like sports anime, so I'm hopeful about enjoying this, as soon as I get home from work.. if it's there. Amazon is not making this easy to find so maybe in the US they don't have up quite yet

Check back at 2pm Eastern (i.e. 40 minutes from now) as that's when the episode is scheduled to go up.

The first episode is now out and here is the URL link:

Episode 1

That was a pretty nice way to begin this show with Takumi and Go forming a pitcher-catcher relationship right off the bat. Takumi is pretty famous seeing that he is the grandson of a stud, so it's no wonder he drew some interest there. Takumi may have the stuff, but he's not exactly able to go all out all the time seeing that he held back during that practice in the alley, but he definitely has someone he can trust.

Hey! It's not like I've never started a show discussion thread before. (Though most of them have withered away pretty quickly. )

Here's my first one:

Thank you sir. I may not be able to watch it right away (I'm at work), but I have now added it to my watchlist, and that feels good.

And in case you weren't aware, JuJu26, they do now have monthly options--if you do subscribe to Prime you don't need to do the whole year. It's just $8.99 per month if you choose just the Prime Video option.

What can I say. I pretty much hate scrolling through and past big images, even if they are pretty, to get to a bit of text.

Episode 1

It a laidback version of Major. Thou I wonder where Takumi got his doubts for his baseball? Was the reason why his team lost was due an injury to his right wrist or did the doubt stem from a desire to catch up to his grandfather.

I see. I used up my free trial for Kabaneri last season and I am low on cash right now. Still, $8.99 isn't bad and seems affordable. Thanks for the info!

Nice first episode can already tell going to be good with good VAs in place it helps and having a more country setting will be a little more laid back. Good writing already can feel tension with grandson, father and grandfather. One statement about poor and rich caused catcher blood pressure to rise so kudos to grabbing viewers to want to see back stories. Last comment animation top quality from Shaft studios such a high bar.

Episode 1

I sense a hidden gem with this one!

Everything about the episode had a good start. The opening and ending was good and the interactions between the character felt real and refreshing.

Im getting Kids on the Slope vibes from Battery and I think it is definitely worth the watch!

That was great! Everything felt really high quality, and it melded together a bunch of things seamlessly as a perfect set up for the rest of the show. We got briefed on character personalities, family, background, place, goals. Well-paced and pleasant and none of it felt forced. This is already my AotS.
