Isn't all anxiety irrational?
I thought anxiety was to be uncomfortable with a situation to the point that it affects your behavior negatively when you try to deal with it.

To me, anxiety is the before an event form of fear. I assume naturally it's supposed to make you prepare for an event that might harm you, when applied to important events in relatively low quantaties that's exactly what it does. Idk if it's ever rational but it can be helpful, anxiety doesn't need to affect you negatively. In this case irrational anxiety probably refers to the kind that applies to statistically very safe events and in extremely high amounts where it just makes you want to avoid the event instead of dealing with it and so starts to negatively affect your life.

It feels perfectly rational at the time, and looking back it seems irrational. But if you could go back, your body would trigger the same chemicals from right before your attack.

Uh yeah, I wish I didn't. Panic attacks aren't really fun. It's no exaggeration to say that it's ruining my life if it hasn't already.

It's like logically I'm safe, so why the fuck am I freaking out and feeling like I'm suffocating?
