I don't think I've seen the USA in such social turmoil since the late 60s.

Not just the cliche rich /poor, white/ minorities, gun /no gun but much more divisive until there is so many antagonistic "i'm right" groups its scary amazing.
Any thoughts from my friends from the USA would be interesting.

Another Civil War? Definitely. Don't know when, but pretty good chance America will have at least one more civil war before our sun goes supernova.

I mean amazing in the literal sense. Like unthinkable. Didn't mean to imply any sense of enjoyment, sorry

I don't think we'll have another civil war until we elect more than one president at a time again.

A civil war? No, I don't think so. The ignorant scream the loudest, and the media doesn't help. If you base your assessment on that, then it doesn't look great. Personally I think we've got more going for us that what is shared via social media and news networks. We'll get through this. It won't be easy. It will take a lot of education and time, but we'll get through it.

Not anytime soon, but anything is possible, it would be foolish to say it could never happen..

nope. Completely impossible. Or at least not a civil war in the sense of two equal sides. If it comes down to it the government honestly has enough fire power and connections with foreign countries that it could put down any uprising among the people and despite all the infighting between political powers they won't resort to actually splitting the nation.

Now there is a chance of some people trying to actually start up a real rebellion but again it would just fail in the end as the government already holds far too much power to be resisted through force.

To put it another way the part of the constitution that gives us the right to bear arms even against the government is nothing more than an empty promise at this point as we have no way to legitimately protect that right.

its the media that's the worst part of it its gotten so bad the past few years that I gave up on the news. The news should just be renamed to what's wrong with people. I don't remember it being this bad when I was growing up

big surprise, groups thinking there's only one way to go about (insert topic) leads to violence or hatred.

doubtful, barring some kind of global economic collapse.

like the EU, the US states are basically giant trading zone with unified currency and free interstate commerce, it's much more profitable for a state to stay within the union than to secede from it.

but if you're talking about a period of terrorism based on identity politics, that seems like a possibility

There should be. Personally, I think that any country only having one civil war is unnatural, given the tumultuous histories of, well, everywhere else. Civil wars, rebellions, etc... are very normal events for any given nation. Ever since my first Social Studies class in middle school, the USA's overall lack of internal strife has struck me as odd.

Why is that, you think?
