There might be a thread like this, but too lazy to check so here goes nothing.

So I have noticed recently that names in Anime, mostly when they are foreign, are just ridiculous sometimes that it's hilarious.

We have this lady from Alderamin of the Sky

And we have this lady from Taboo Tattoo

So just wanted to know what are some ridiculous names you have come across in the time you have spent watching anime.

'English' names are pretty fun; sometimes you get names that actually sound legit like "Leon McNichol" from Bubblegum Crisis

Sometimes you have a character given an English name to stand for some kind of concept related to the character, and you can see what the writer is going for. Like:

Captain Global in Macross
Agrippa Maintainer, Turn A Gundam

Revy from Black Lagoon is actually supposed to be a nickname for Rebecca - Hiroe just picked the wrong part of the name...
Allegedly, Rally Vincent from Gunsmith Cats is meant to be Larry, don't know if that's true or not but the character is female

And then there are some that I just don't get:

Katsumi Liqueur, Kiddy Phenil, Lebia Maverick, all from Silent Mobius

I'd actually buy that as Icelandic or something (but I don't speak any Scandinavian languages)

I always thought Nenene (Read or Die) was a weird name.

And though it wasn't her real name, there's "Miss Deep" from the same series. >_>

What about that Loli vampire from the Monogatari series?

I forgot her name. Her name is straight bizarre.

Jacuzzi Splot from Baccano.
There are other ones that are sort of odd from that show, but many of those are due to characters being from Europe, having very ethnic names, or the fact the show is set in the 1930s. Jacuzzi, as far as I know, isn't covered by any of that.

Nice is a city in France and her name is pronounced the city. It wouldn't be too odd for someone to be named after a European city. That's where Florence Nightingale's first name comes from (Florence, Italy). Nice Hollystone doesn't sound any weirder than Florence Nightingale.

Speaking of Nice (not pronounced like the city), Hamatora had a lot of odd names. I think more characters had odd names than didn't, especially for Japanese characters. Art would have been okay if it was short for Arthur, but there was no indication that it was.
