I was more concerned about Melania Trump quoting Rick Astley:

Rickrolled by a speech!

Unless you actually watched the full speech please don't jump on the bandwagon, if you did, which I did, you would be able tell that only a few sentences resembled Michelle Obama's speech. Most of what she talked about was her life before becoming an American citizen. SO, unless they've lived the same life, I don't think that their speeches were the same at all. I personally agree with the sentiment they both espoused and it is also an excellent way to define work with merit. Therefore don't ridicule something that is a positive statement and nothing more.

If the media doesn't care about the truth, and the candidates don't care about the truth, and the voters don't really either...

I'm not sure in the scope of things that this is a big deal. However, what I do know is that Melania Trump would make a better First Lady than Bill Clinton. Melania in the White House is unlikely to cause the interns to run for cover.

True. I did watch the Republican Convention and her speech was quite a bit longer than the few plagiarized lines. Michelle Obama obviously didn't talk about her career in fashion.

The speechwriters made a mistake, or else they did it on purpose, either to discredit Melania Trump or just to get her more media coverage. Who knows. Regardless, I guess it wasn't really a significant part of the speech.

Aside, how do you plagiarize a speech? Its not like it is some kind of intellectual material or submitted as an assignment for school. It wasn't part of a job or anything like that, it was just someone talking.

Forgetting that no one writes their own speeches anyway, this is saying that once someone says something that somehow they gain ownership over those words in that order. So wouldn't that go against our freedom of speech? By this point how can anyone say anything or ever have an original idea that someone else hasn't already had/said.

Instead of getting hung up on the same speech being made how about focusing on the fact that the same message is still true, respect everyone, strive for you goals and creating opportunities for youth to reach their goals.

True. Though he complains about anchor babies when he is, in fact, an anchor husband.

Oh, come on! Two lines of a 30 minute speech and everyone's in an uproar?

Harping on this kind of silly nitpicking just creates the impression that the speaker is incapable of making any more serious criticism of Trump.
