Dear Crunchyroll,
I want to support you, and I want to support the anime industry, but for those of us who are students (and thus poor), you are certainly not making it easy.
The fact that you need adds to support your endeavour is understandable and (to me at least) not a problem, the problem comes in how you are handling said adds.

-When you show me one add three times and another four times over the course of a single episode, most of them back to back even.

-When the adds are not reasonably put before or after the episode, but shoved in so as to ruin my watching experience. (I realize an attempt has been made to somewhat mitigate this by trying to insert them in the same places that they would be on Japanese tv, but quite often, this does not really work, and they end up in completely arbitrary places.)

-When, whenever an add comes on, the controls for volume and going in and out of fullscreen disappear.

I love anime, I love Crunchyroll, and thus abviously I want to support it, but when these things happen, it does not feel like I am supporting anything, it just feels like you are trying to make my experience so annoying that I will subscribe, which for one I cannot afford, and furthermore I think is quite unworthy of you.
Since you are handling almost everything else so well, I think it's a shame that this mishandling of adds is making me - and I presume others - want to find an alternative, or is tempting me to turn my addblocker on.

Sincerely,
Aquia

bingo! btw, i lost count how many threads complaining about ads there were here. of course, all from non-paying users, and yes nothing was done to make the experience less miserable.

Dear Non-Member OP

If you like CR so much not to mention anime then pay the $59 with great pride, supporting the anime community is what us anime fans do.
For the price a new release game I can get a unrestricted, Ad-free, HD1080p with chromecast support so I can binge watch as much anime as I want

I could do the same thing I do here with a bit of piracy and a chromecast video streamer for free but thats not what this is about.
For $59 bucks a year I support anime in america and thats worth ever dime of it.

Don't think I'm just pushing the cash option because I make alot of cash or something. I have a job but I make crap and most of it goes to bills, food and I have to decide every month how to enjoy what little cash is left over. I could blow it all on a overpriced new release game on steam or get cable tv that I"d mostly never watch or I can get a years worth of CR, a sub to a mmo I like and netflix. It's a simple pick for me.

Till you can get up and running yourself you can use these guest passes

It's not like I can do anything with um.

this is questionable. paying users are only able to watch the version which CR have the rights.
for example, if CR only have a right for a censored version of a series, that's what paying users will get. paying users certainly don't (in general) get the uncensored, bd version of a series.

sometimes, the only way to get a truly unrestricted version is by paying 100+ for the bluray (sometimes north of 500+)
or through "other" means. but of course, you'll still be able to watch series as it airs.
do note that certain series air for free without restrictions (and legally). example include Love Live Sunshine, but there's probably other series as well.

Unrestricted in the scene of Ads and lower video quality is what I meant by that.

I think we both can agree that CR is not a one-stop-shop for streaming anime or anime in general, no site or physical store is. You can go back and look at how even physical anime is sold and marketed in Japan, America or Europe and you will see alot of words like "Exclusive", "Limited Edition" or "While Supplies Last". These "Firesell" items make a One-Stop-Shop impossible but brings a desire to want them evermore. Being a grown adult, I've seem myself yelling over a crowd at local comic and anime stores during a limited sell "Get the hell out of my way, I gotta get this limited edition 3/4 scale YUUDACHI!". I've just chocked that up to being the lifestyle of a fan.

It doesn't matter how you support the community as a anime or comic fan, as long as you support. I'd highly encourage people to do it in a manner that it most fun for them. If you like conventions then support by buying the weekend pass, or support your local comic and anime store by buying figures, or as we have been talking about, support CR by subscribing. Not Exclusively of course, There is always "Anime Network", "Funimation" and maybe...Viz.
