Well neither the CR app or the FuniNow app works on my android box :/

but the old app was pretty terrible, the UI is better at least.

I'm not overly enamoured with the new app on Android as it does pause a lot on me while watching, though that could be my phone and not the app. But the Windows 10 app works perfectly fine for me. I am not sure I really like the interface on the new apps much though. Still, light years ahead of the old apps they had. However I usually just view through a browser and I've never had any issues. Streaming works fine for me in a browser, can pause for a bit and start again with no issues, unlike with the CR one where pausing for any length of time causes me to have to refresh the page. As far as the apps go, I like the CR Android and Windows 10 apps better overall. Just a cleaner interface.

As far as the service goes I've never had any complaints. Always works fine for me, except for those times where the video pauses in Android (have to press pause and then play again to get it going). I know some people have issues and some people dislike their service and they are entitled to their opinions but in my experience it's been good. Their support was also responsive for the couple of times I've used it.

Funimation updated their site and apps and now I can't log in to any of my apps ( I can still log in using the website). I contacted Support several days ago but still silence on their side; which I know it can't be a huge problem because I decided to start a TAN (ANO) subscription this season and had the same problem but they managed to fix it a few hours. So maybe alot of people are having the same problem over at Funimation?

Not really a huge deal because I cancelled (my renewal of) my Funimation subscription in the wake of the CR/Funi deal given that we are getting pretty much everything making my Funi account pointless.

Lots of people on Twitter complaining about logging on on the PS4 app, their forum has now reopened so might be worth posting there. although I don't understand their logic with this app situation, they removed their Android app in the UK mid December and will have a new one there shortly. But the old one worked why remove it when paying customers would want to use it in the meantime?

Because they adding an ad-supported app to more platforms; if u don't have sub u can watch. Everything was supposed to go live around Pearl Harbor day (including site), but there was issue with (PS4) app.

Since they don't want to take away, bring back for a month(s), take it away again, issue new app.... Well u get nothing short term. But with new website, should be able to play on website from Chrome on ur phone; so no worries.

At first glance, the new Roku app looks pretty good, though it takes an awfully long time to load. I'd already added a show to my queue, and started watching -- except it started up with the English language, plus subtitles/captions, not Japanese audio (for a show that they have both for).

No problem, I think -- there's a way to change this, right below each episode. So I change it to Japanese, and start playing the episode and, it bounces me completely out of the app! (I was able to play it in Japanese on the website).

At least it is possible to turn off the subtitles/captions using the Roku * menu. Except I really, really don't like dubs.

Another annoyance is that I was thinking that even without a paid subscription there would be more available--just with ads. But it's more that you can watch the first couple of episodes but need to subscribe to watch the rest. (Maybe it works differently in terms of availability for the simuldubs--it's impossible to tell right now since there aren't more than a couple of episodes out for each current show.)

On the website this is more clear, -- If you go to the show page the "subscription" banner doesn't display on the ep 1 and 2 thumbnails, but does on ep 3 and beyond. However on Roku for the same show all the episodes have the "subscription" banner -- even the ones that you can actually watch without the subscription.

Clearly things still need some work. I'd consider subscribing to Funi again from time to time for the subtitled shows that aren't (yet) on Crunchy, but not if Japanese audio doesn't work on Roku.

Next up is to see how it works on the iOS and Android apps (which I had been using a bit before Funi canceled my prior subscription).

Update. iOS and Android apps (at least the version on Amazon Fire) work fine with Japanese audio. It also looks like the ads only kick in when playing Japanese audio, and not with the English version, though I didn't watch enough to be completely certain of that. Still limited episodes available though I haven't sampled many.

The latest version of the app that allows free users some access is not compatible with FireTV (at least not the Fire TV stick that I have).

This pretty much sums up my thoughts on this now regarding the Funimation APP. It's still has internal problems and doesn't work well on my iOS. Haven't even tried Fire TV yet but I'm guessing it won't work well there either.

Literally, the only show I watched from Funimation last season was Saiki and with that finished airing, I cancelled my subscription as well. It's not worth the price imo if users are interested in ongoing shows.

The app on my tablet is useless now , and I can't play thru the web browser on it either anymore . My phone is wonky now too , listing shows I don't watch & removed . The website itself is now a pain to navigate , if I'm lucky enough to even get in ! They have some serious issues now on all fronts...

The website finally got a good makeover. Waaaay better than the old website. Just hope they put all their series on the website, not just some.

Haven't had to access Funimationnow through my Roku and Firestick apps in over a month, but recently used the updated PS4 app a few days ago and didn't have any issues accessing any content. I have yearly renewal subscription for the service and the only series I'm watching it this season are Dragonballball Super and Tales of Zestiria X.

I use my PS4 for all my streaming services and this new Funi app on it is more problematic than it was. It just seems more complicated to me. Is it any different on other devices?

BTW, don't want to sound like a troll, but I reposted a few of these comments on the recently opened FUNIFORUM for visibility to people who make difference. Your observations probably matter the most, because ur here, and not there, of course.

https://www.funimation.com/forum/topic/10201/funifeedback-from-the-other-side/

...and with the CR/FUNimation "partnership", we supposed to be working together for "the good of anime" right; and to defeat the "vile" Amazon/Netflix, no doubt?....

Anyways, if you have objections to your posted content, please advise to as such, and I will edit accordingly (IRL time permitting). Or, if you want me to add something, is fine. In either case, no worries...

New things will always take time to get used to, but so far it's working out much better than the old website. Navigation is much easier as it took quite awhile to get around on the old side, especially to find the right episode for long series like Fairy Tail. But now, everything is listed by season to make finding episodes quicker. The other big gripe about the old website is the shop as the filters just aren't flexible, so I had to really dig through to get the results I wanted. And on top of that, video quality is much improved, while the player allows for far more customization options.

That said, there are a few major problems here as loading times are longer, and the app is prone to crash when using it on my Roku. So while it's a huge step up, it's not without its issues.
