Thankfully he lived but this has to stop. He was trying to protect his disabled patient who had a toy truck in his had.

I believe the person who shot this man had no justification and is an evil person. Throw the book at him.

more than likely, the police involved will only get a scold (maybe), and be discharged for maybe a week or so, and still be paid through tax payer money.

Officer, why? What the hell are you doing?
The patient was clearly disabled, his only means of communication was the therapist who kept his hands over his head, and the only words for opening fire we see in print are "I don't know".
I have a niece with this same autistic disability, and she depends on my sister and her little sister to keep her fed and clean. Now apparently any idiot with a phone can report a favorite toy as a "gun" and put someone who doesn't understand or communicate with this world in danger of imminent physical violence.
On top of everything else, goddamn BLM is going to run with this like all the others.
Dammit to hell, Florida.

I didn't read the article yet, but does it really seem like a race crime in this case? Cops have always been out of control as far as power and authority goes, the only reason it's been "a thing" in the last 5 years is because news outlets like to cover stories where accusations of racism are involved(there has definitely been racist profiling and racist shootings, just something to think about).

Holy crap they were responding to an alleged attempt at suicide and end up shooting someone? What the fuck. Seriously police?

Edit : I read the article and I can't see any racism involved, just regular police being stupid.

not the first case out of many more.
I dunno, the last I heard was about a dog (for a search?) then biting him to pieces?

I know, in fact my argument was kind of that this has happened a lot more than we think because the news has overlooked it for so long. Just really surprised, I've never heard about a suicide attempt being treated like this to be honest(but that's probably ignorant me)

what I really find annoying is that they still treat it like they where still hostile beings...even after they shot them.
also they would have more then enough time to search them for anything hostile and remove it on the spot.

Maybe the police guy was on drugs?

I think it's relevant. Especially with what had been going on. The cop who pulled the trigger must have heard the news this pass month. And the only reason he can come up with is "I don't know". For fuck sake...

That doesn't sound like motivation. That sounds like a reason to be even more cautious.

I don't think it has anything to do with race, just normal police stupidity(not that all police are stupid but if you think that's what I'm saying you need to be less insecure about your defense of police)
