Holy crap they were responding to an alleged attempt at suicide and end up shooting someone? What the fuck. Seriously police?

Edit : I read the article and I can't see any racism involved, just regular police being stupid.

Offtopic, but threatening a police-officer became somewhat popular to commit "suicide" in the last few years. 'MURICA! FUCK YEAH!

Why are we ignoring the people falsely accusing the suspects - the people who dial 911. I'm not defending the cop, just pointing it out.

They were responding to a threat of suicide on the phone, as in the whole reason they were in the area was because somewhat reported a suicide attempt, it wasn't like it was an isis bomber walking up to the police wanting to be shot.

Why mention the therapist's race?

I think it's relevant. Especially with what had been going on. The cop who pulled the trigger must have heard the news this pass month. And the only reason he can come up with is "I don't know". For fuck sake...

That doesn't sound like motivation. That sounds like a reason to be even more cautious.

That's my point... Completely reckless and shows total disregard for the man's life or justice as a whole. We can't explain why he shot him, most sane people wouldn't. But while having the gun aimed at a man pleading for his life with both hands in the air you'd think the officer would stop and think "hmm maybe he really is unarmed, I should not shoot him". Instead he probably thought of Baton Rouge and Dallas and not about that man's pleas... Disgraceful.

Its sad to say that the United States is one of the most patently racist places to live in the world. We white folk have been killing brown skinned people since we first started importing them in the 1700's. Believe it or not the black person's life was like to be safer when they were bought and sold as commodities, now that they have no economic value to the white man there is no incentive not to kill them with impunity, Death by police has simply replaced the lynch mob in america.

There are so many reasons to be ashamed of being an American these days, and this is one of the worst. This has to stop. Another is the possible election of the bigoted homophobe republican candidate. As for his running mate, he is a bigot, homophobe, and has been bought and paid for by the Koch brothers. Ruth Bader-Ginsburg has it right, becoming an expat is the only viable option for a person of conscience.

Its a really sorry state of affairs we have here, with no end in sight. Looking at the evil we perpetrate upon our own people, its no wonder there is no end to the numbers of people around the world, and within our own boarders, who want to try to hurt us with terrorism.

The real question is why everyone is surprised the cop was not charged.

Were talking about the same justice system that didn't charge Hilary.
