Okay, I know I know these questions about which order to watch the fate series have come up plenty of times. But I keep seeing different answers so I'm still confused!

I honestly just feel like skipping Fate/Stay Night (Apparently it's not that good anyway)

I'm not doing the visual novels, so please don't suggest that.

So can I go, F/Z - UBW - Heaven's Feel, or should I wait for the Heaven's Feel to come out and then watch zero. (I really don't feel like waiting.)

Also is there a remake of F/SN, or are people just assuming UBW is a remake?

Uhhhggg why couldn't they just make the order of their series not confusing ;-;

Anyway, thanks in advance.

Also, Fate/Kaleid is an entirely different series, correct? Can I watch it before or after, and it won't matter?

It might reveal some characters before you learn about them in one of the "main" series, but it's so vastly different a show, it doesn't really matter.

The problem with the series order comes from adapting the visual novel. The VN has three different routes that have the same start but depending on who you focus on in the game gets you very different endings. The anime adaptations only focus on one route at a time.

Fate/Stay Night adapts the Fate route and has a focus on Sabre. Explores the idea of oneself as an ideal

Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works adapts the UBW route and has a focus on Rin and Archer. Explores the idea of struggling with oneself as an ideal

Fate/Stay Night Heaven's Feel adapts the Heaven's Feel and has a focus on Sakura. Explores the idea of the friction with real and ideal

Because they have the same start point there is no real must start here point for these shows. This is why it gets confusing with various different groups pushing what is in all honesty only their opinion on were to start. Basically you can watch those three shows in whatever order you feel like and you won't be wrong.

Fate Zero is a prequel to Fate/Stay Night shows. It shows the Fourth Grail War and sets things up for the Fifth Grail War. Because of this it has a lot of spoilers for the other three shows and assumes the viewer already knows some things that are not explained in FZ.

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya is an alternate reality in which the Fifth Holy Grail War did not occur. Watching the other shows is not necessary to enjoy Fate/kaleid but you would get more out of it if you did.

What it comes down to is, there is no wrong spot to start at. Just pick one and enjoy.

Alright, thanks so much. This is the first time I've seen a response that didn't say "you have to watch this first, or you have to watch that first" Out of curiosity though, in which order did you watch the series?

My watch order was Fate Zero - Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya season 1 - Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works movie - Carnival Phantasm - Fate/Stay Night - Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works TV with the rest of Fate/kaleid sprinkled in here and there . This is probably the most confusing, least informative and most spoiler filled way to watch this franchise.

I started with Fate Zero because it was the only one with a legal stream at the time. After season 1 of Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya , I got the Sentai Filmworks DVD of the Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works movie.

Do NOT watch the UBW movie before watching UBW TV. While it does have some good fight scenes it completely mangles the story. It leaves out so much the story is a confusing mess while retaining most of the big spoilers.

Carnival Phantasm is an OVA comedy series that takes the characters from Fate/Stay Night and Tsukihime and throws them into a bunch of crazy comedy skits. Need to know both series to get a lot of the jokes.
