Now agree or disagree, but I don't think that people should really be able to review an anime by watching less than 10% of a series?

Do you agree, disagree?

Agree. I would never review something even if you CAN accurately capture a shows quality within it's first xxx episodes. It's just...egh....

There's not much I find more annoying than someone "reviewing" an anime after the first episode. I've only dropped a single show after the first episode and that was Terraformars Revenge... And even still the only place I've given it any sort of rating was on mal. Havne't left an actual review.

Reviewing anime like Madoka magika after 3 episodes is just wrong.

Total Eclipse

Episode 1: That's pretty intense.
Episode 2: Wow, this is a really dark and dramatic series.
Episode 3: A breather episode. I can't wait to get back to what we saw in the first couple episodes.
*becomes a harem anime*

Madoka Magic

Well, you know how that works.

I think a person can review exactly what they watched. If they've watched 1 episode then they can talk about that particular episode.

I agree. If they're reviewing the episodes, that's different.

After some episodes you might be able to tell what you think of an anime... but to do a real review you have to watch the whole thing.

I've got to agree with tkayt on this however I think the reviewer should be inclined to admit they're just basing their review on the first episode or two.

I think having an opinion and doing a review are two seperate things. To do a review, you should watch all of the anime, but I can say I dislike an anime even though I have only watched the first episode.

If someone wants to write a review of one episode, they should make it clear that it's a review of one episode.

If they want to write a review of an entire series, they need to see the entire series.

Are we talking professional published review on a major site, reviews on store sites or catalog things (like MAL), or reviews on a personal blog?

I've seen people post reviews on supposedly professional sites (not naming names, but I think we all know the one) where they admit to having skipped episodes. Do not do this. Because what they're basically saying is that they went in with the assumption that it wasn't worth giving their full attention to. And if that's the case, then they didn't give it a fair shot to prove itself. So they shouldn't be writing that review.

As for reviews on sites like Amazon or MAL, that's unfortunately one of the lesser reasons why people leave reviews when they shouldn't.

It took me 10 seconds to realize World Trigger was ruined by Toei. Rule # 1 - Don't be cheap on the first episode.

All I know is that you'll sound horribly pretentious if you say you can give a good review of a a series without watching the whole thing.
