I'll admit I've never visited the Creative Corner much. I haven't worked on anything creative years, and while I have sometimes liked poking my head in here to see what people were sharing, and what questions they were asking, I'm doing that less and less.

I think part of that may be the way in which I see the forum having changed. I know everything changes, and an old way is not necessarily the best way, and mini-cultures change over time to suit their current population. However, one thing I used to like was the way some users would create a thread almost as their own gallery or workshop. For example, they'd start a thread showing one of their drawings or a piece of writing, and as they made more drawings or wrote additional stories, poems, chapters (or reworked a particular drawing or piece of writing) they'd update their opening post and/or add additional posts. If there was a work in progress they were actively soliciting feedback on, they'd keep a "Work n Progress" thread centered on a particular work and would come back to the same thread to let folks know how it was going, and to discuss new ideas about the work, their process, or a new draft. So each thread almost became its own little community with a continuing dialog, and new people could just jump into one thread and see an artist's work all in one place. While that still happens some, it seems to happen less.

Nowadays it seems more common to start individual threads for every new piece of work, or every new question even if it's about a work that's been asked about before. I guess that has a certain advantage in that it prevents people from commenting too much on old stuff that has been discarded from one's current work.

What do you think? As a reader of the forum, what kinds of things do you enjoy most in Creative Corner? What things do you wish there was more of? If you are someone who regularly posts here, what do you think about the way Creative Corner works for you?

I wish the Creative Corner was as popular as the General Discussion. But it's cool.

I like looking at the different art people post. It makes me learn more about my own mistakes and how to improve them.

EDIT: Only 2 replies? Really? Come on...

I don't know, I tend to only create threads in here on finished projects. I have several props in progress right now that I've been holding off making threads about because I don't like editing the head post much, or replying to my own thread if there hasn't been much activity, and I don't like making a lot of threads in general. Just personal preferences there, everyone has their own way of doing it, it's simply why I don't tend to make many, even though I have lots of projects in my shop.

If we kind of think of Creative as a Works in Progress section, I might try making more threads for what I'm up to. Or, if there was a subsection for such threads I'd put those there, then make a new thread for the finished item (and link back to the WIP one so people could see how it developed).

I do enjoy the section, and seeing what others are up to, that's for sure.

I like the forum in general but it could use more traffic. As is, I'm pretty much just interacting with the same people all of the time and I'd like to see it expand out a bit.

As for having a lot of threads by the same users, I think that it is a sub-par way of doing things sometimes, but it is a consequence of having so few users. Making a new thread gets a few more people to look at it, otherwise your new chapter might not get seen by anyone. Still, I think the forum ideally would be operated more cleanly, with fewer "new" threads.

I like that idea.

I made a thread for my story but I like the idea of having threads like that. Having a lot of threads is sort of not such a good way, I guess.

I'll try to get some people I know who do creative things and use Crunchy, but not the forums, to post here. ^_^

Adding to my story thread. I've started about 3 months ago, and it was just one drawing and some back story with some comic panels. Now I have over 10 drawings, 3 full chapters, and full character bios. I usually have updates on what I'm working on, and the post will bump itself once I'm done, and it usually brings some traffic.

Actually I have posted soo much that I ran out of characters/ words to post on the same thread, so I had to post my other chapters on a separate post on the same thread. It would be nice to give some extra room for creative corner posts instead of linking your work because there is no room left on your OP.

I have made other threads as well. What drawing program I'm currently using, and I showed what progress I have made, and others chipped in with their own work as well, so that was cool. I have another thread for posting my other stories, and other people can show some of theirs as well.

I like creative corner, I believe that the community would grow and better if more traffic actually came to it. With my original story post, in 3 months it has over 2000 views on it and over 40 posts, I think for creative corner that's pretty good I never expected to recieve all of the helpful tips, advice, and praise, but the community is so nice, and that's why creative corner is soo much better in terms of enjoyment .

So maybe giving us posters more room to work with, because I have soo much more to show, so much more to draw, and write. It would also be nice to see more people become more involved as well

Making some sort of post in the main blog, or connecting something from there to here (like a fanart prompt with a thread here or something) would drive traffic here... just an idea.

Creative Corner is really good for people who watch anime. Maybe Crunchyroll can use stuff out of Creative Corner?

I had some fun in CRCC before, but it's a section I have to scroll down to notice so I rarely think to visit.
