Well mother did start us off when I was 9 by sending us off on camping trips to another island. Later she took myself and my siblings to the other Caribbean island and left us to our devices with some family friends. They had a whole hillside tropical forest plus we could walk to any beach from any point on the island.

I've done getting away for at least a week at a time as a teen in holiday camps. We didn't have tv or phones or computer or games there. We had fun doing, swimming, hiking up hills, team sports, outdoor cooking etc. I've been camping out on beach for a weekend where we got to have midnight walks along the sand. We had to be careful not to step on the Portugese man of wars that kept being washed on the shore. They were beautiful but painfully poisonous. Then we had the obligatory beach cricket matches. I consider that game to be very boring but the different setting make it interesting. It's impossible to fetch a ball batted in the sea

I've done camping with tents too. I keep two tents just in case I plan to go again. Over the year I've had several get away weekends spent hiking, swimming, boating, archery and walking around the lake. It was funny to see the wild rabbits come out in the fields and in the spring there were these cute little ducklings.

Niagara Falls, Canada-side at night. It's a beautiful place to be and very cool alongside the falls.

I'm currently staying on an island. I can literally hear the surf through the window as I type this and was out kayaking earlier.

Vacations stink, I'd rather be at work back home..
