So, essentially any review panel ever.
I find critics and review panels to be counterintuitive. It's a biased process left at the mercy of the tastes and expectations of a select few who are, more often than not, elitist or snobbish as it is.

Well, they also thought Bleach was underrated even though Bleach stopped being amazing or great a long time ago. The rankings in Shonen Jump showed that.

I actually like Black Clover and thought the story was well put together so far. I don't know why people are complaining that it's so similar to Naruto when there's a lot of other shounen manga with the same themes. At least the females in Black Clover can pull their own weight and fight against the bad guys. I mean Sakura (and the other female ninjas) didn't get strong until it was closer to the end of series.

If any one wants to buy the manga, the first volume is already out.

Yeah and by the time Sakura did get strong everyone else was even stronger!

Like "oh great Sakura can punch a mountain to dust with her full strength. But now naruto and Sasuke are basically Ninja gods and can turn a mountain into a crater like swatting a fly" she was always getting further and further behind the rest of the cast. Naruto and Sasuke both far surpassed their Jiraya and Orochimaru but Sakura was inferior to Tsunade to the very end.

This always bugged me in Naruto, because there were a lot of cool female ninjas (I especially liked Tenten) but aside from tsunade hardly any of them got to do anything.

I love Black Clover it's similar to Mx0 just that Black Clover takes place in a magical world

I can't wait for the Anime.

Black Clover doesn't bring enough to the table to quite differentiate itself, I suppose. There's a bit of a knee-jerk reaction going one against shounen in general, especially any that follows patterns along the lines of Naruto and Bleach. I think it just means that many people have ingested one too many series like it in the last fifteen years or so, and want something more fresh. Still, it's not good to take manga/anime polls too seriously.

Because Naruto is such an original concept..
It may have been that I accidentally skipped chapters, but when I was reading Black Clover it definitely felt like the plot would jump at points. There are also quite a few things that happen without explanation (like the dungeon). The way these came across made me realize the world building was poorly done. The plot feels oddly paced as well. I don't think it's bad, but it definitely doesn't feel like it has an abundance of potential.
At no point did I ever feel like it was similar to Naruto.

To all the naysayers, I understand the complaints but I urge all of you to read at least to the end of the third volume. That is when the manga really kicks it into high gear and shows us what it's really made of.

A boy, who seems to have no potential for skill is shadowed by his child rival. Talented, good looking, he has everything our main character doesn't... but there is a similarity, both grew up without parents. they may not look like it but they are indeed similar. Not long after the boy who seemed to lack even the most basic of skill acquire a powerful tool/skill to aid them, now which anime backstory am I talking about? You can't tell, I pretty sure that's why they rated Black Clover the worst manga, I mean the main character even sounds like Natsu every so often, he's the murky brew of your average Shonen Jump who brings nothing new to the table

Yet if you just drop the "no parents" bit you have the outline for My Hero Academia as well. I won't quibble with your dislike of Black Clover, it certainly isn't for everyone. However you seem to be implying that an unoriginal concept leads to a bad story, and that is simply not the case.

I would also take a moment to point out that while you compare Asta to Natsu, in terms of actual current Jump protagonists in the magazine's action series right now there is basically no one else like him (with the exception of the muscle from Dr. Stone. Even Emma from PNL for as upbeat as she is is both far smarter and far darker than Asta). I recon that makes him pretty refreshing to many Jump readers, and what faint memory of ESJ reader comments I can recall seems to back me up on that assessment.

Can't really say I disagree with you, Black Clover certainly isn't a bad anime, just a bit recycled

I really like Black Clover. Though, I really like Naruto as well, so I guess I don't mind that they are pretty similar. Idk, I just don't have the same issues with long-running shonens that most people do. Maybe it's because I am in the perfect range for their marketing.

Yep. Sure Sakura is strong, but it take 100000 chapter to develop her.

I like Black Clover too! Yuno is a rival type that isn't a complete ass.

Except that both the lead and his rival are orphans, (and the light and dark hair) after the first two volumes, there isn't a lot of "Naruto". Yuno and Asta are friends who draw inspiration from each other, indeed Asta referred to them as brothers. And as far as the first 2 volumes go, Asta has inspired and changed 3 of his comrades for the better.

Okay finished the 3rd volume, even fewer similarities.

If you find it derivative, yeah, able to find similar stories in most religions and in the myths and folktales of just about every people on Earth.

The villians are more interesting than the actual "good" characters.
