I don't discriminate against art because of when it was made.

Art is like a joke. If I have to explain why something is art, then it's probably already failed.

For the most part, no, I'm not really a fan. Most of the time, I just don't find it aesthetically pleasing.

I could say something similar for music, actually. Never really liked modernist trends towards atonality and serialism.

But for those that do like it, good on them!

I think I just don't like Modernism in general, really. I'm more of an Impressionism sort of guy - in both the visual arts and music.

It depends on the type of 'modern art" you're talking about.

I hate it so much...Modern art absolutely sucks! You can NOT tell me that a prism is art. Or that putting flashlights on turtles, dancing half naked, and whatever is considered art.

That being said...I would totally have a room full of modern art in my house...because it captures my imagination for some reason.

I tend to like whatever everyone else hates, shit art, so some of it. What can I say, I'm a shitty person that likes shitty art.

Has anyone heard of Yayoi Kusama? It is my dream to one day visit her exhibits.
Her infinity rooms look amazing

I actually don't really dislike modern art, I dislike the modern art market. The major problem here is that art isn't more than just a investment for many people nowadays. That's why you often think "WTF?! That thing should be worth XX million Dollar?". Because it isn't. The reason why so many paintings or sculptures are completely overrated is because of the hype that was created in order to make more money with it.

I mostly only like Menton Matthews' work, but art in of itself for the sake of art, no, couldn't care less either way. So little, in fact, that I can't tell the difference between types of art.

I enjoy geometrical 3d sculptures. They are pleasing to my eyes for some reason, though I would definitely not critique them as particularly "artistic".

It is simple, but I would enjoy sitting near it much more than sitting near nothing. That's the best way I can really explain it.

Oh wow. I knew about her infinity net paintings, but didn't know that she made them into rooms. Wow (stares at pics for awhile).

Surprised no one has mentioned Takashi Murakami yet. He takes inspiration from anime and manga to make contemporary Pop art pieces.
