Android TV app is being NEGLECTED, with no updates since April 21.

The Leanback code is broken and crashes immediately in Android N

All prior non-leanback code CR apps work just fine. I've test 5 previous versions from 0.9x and it works.

Android phones and tablets have gotten updates but Android TV is passed over still.

I opened a tech support ticket (about two months ago) and they closed it with no comment.

Wish someone would ask the Android team for a little love towards the Android TV app.

Thank you and here's hoping

Android Nougat is still in beta, and you should things to be broken until it's officially released.

CR has never considered their app out of beta so what's new here?

"beta" part we understand, but interesting that nothing else (save FUNI app but that's to be expected because it's just crappy anyway) has issues. Netflix and all my other video and music apps perform flawlessly. The old Crunchyroll apps perform without immediately crashing.

"oh it's beta" is fine and dandy excuse for now but would be nice if they would at least take a look at it. Man hours required on this isn't even significant. Inserting the leanback code isn't that difficult. I will probably take the broken one and have it fixed it myself but that's probably not an option for all the other users who use Android TV. I was just hoping that after a few months the issue would be addressed. It's not like it is a rewrite of the program (hopefully the code isn't that shotty).

If I do get it fixed, I'll be sure to post it on our Android TV Google Groups.

Yup. Totally busted. Triage... all I'm asking for. Guess it is time to find where to submit an incident.

Yes, it's quite frustrating that it just crashes immediately without any kind of error message. Please fix, Crunchyroll. Remember tthat the Nougat update is compulsory and automatic for Android TV devices like the NP - we can't refuse it or roll back to Marshmallow. The app has now stopped working for me through no choice of mine.

I expected it to be broken when I tried beta 2 or 3 of Android N. Now that the code is finalized, it's just plain annoying that a service I pay for can't update their app that they knew about.

Crunchyroll hasn't touched the Android TV app since April 21

We would really appreciate a little LOVE here Crunchyroll!!!!

Just fix the leanback code and permissions in the app, that's probably all you need to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ended up resorting to side loading a mobile apk, found one that has the correct orientation and even had better seek methods. Not as pretty as the native android TV version and using search crashes the app. But it works.

A update on the current Android TV app would really be appreciated.

Precisely, I tried 4 different versions just to test the issue. Right now we can side load regular Android app and it will run but it is blocky and difficult to navigate without a keyboard/touchpad.

I'm now going to start tweeting and facebooking Crunchyroll as well as submit YET another trouble ticket. I was told they develop their Android app in house, that's pretty sad considering how long it has been since Android TV app has been updated.

Thanks for posting your experience

I used 1.1.4 -224. Didn't have any issue with navigating using the remote only thing I can't click on is a video in my queue and click the three small edits.

The picture quality looks pretty good didn't find it blocky (unless you mean the design of the app then I have to agree). Used the same app on my Fire TV.

Good idea about spamming their twitter might do the same.

While we're waiting for a fix - even an acknowledgement of the issue would be nice - the Crunchyroll plugin for Kodi works very well as a stopgap. Queue is easily accessible, and you can even set video resolution with it again. It's actually easier to skip through credits with it too compared with official app. Hooray!
