I haven't thought of the Kodi add-on. Thanks for the suggestion might go try that. Yes skipping through the credits is a real pain there only version that has scene previews is the Now TV / Roku app.

OMG that works so well, shows are even better laid out then the ogival app. This is the perfect solution. Thanks.

Edit: the only thing missing is a search option.

I logged a call with support a couple of days ago and at first got a standard reply to deactivate the device and try logging in again, which I did and went back to them to try and explain that isn't really the issue and pasted links to a couple of the threads on here. The rep has now told me it is being escalated so we may (or may not) at least get an acknowledgement that CR is aware of the issue.

Got a bit of a funny response was told that the issue will be fixed in the next update. I have no doubt that it will be fixed however as the app is unusable you'd think the response would be something more like we are working on a fix and will deploy it soon.

While we're waiting for a fix - even an acknowledgement of the issue would be nice - the Crunchyroll plugin for Kodi works very well as a stopgap. Queue is easily accessible, and you can even set video resolution with it again. It's actually easier to skip through credits with it too compared with official app. Hooray!

I guess I could load Kodi on my NP just for Crunchyroll. I use Plex for all my local media so I had stopped using XBMC (now Kodi) for my media streaming.

Thanks for the idea.

ONE DAY Crunchy will fix the Android TV app. But from all prior experience is ALWAYS the last and ALWAYS at least SIX MONTHS before the issue is addressed. We are now at FIVE months ....

PS and you are right, we never receive any acknowledgement. It's like this forum is just for dumping, no other function.

Congratulations! You are getting better responses than me. My ticket and request was closed without comment. Hurray!

I was asked to provide logs for my support ticket, but with a non-root machine, that was not possible for me with the logcat app they asked me to try. After repeating a couple of times that I was submitting logs via Google Play and that it should be available to the devs in their Google Play Dev dashboard, I finally got a "oh yeah, they got it and will fix it in the next update."

I asked for a timeline and the tech told me he didn't have that info, but the engineers were working on it.

I, uh, just really hope there is an engineer with a Nexus player and they aren't waiting for the Shield to get the update so they can test.

Well that is one better then me, when I pressed them for a time line I was told the engineers are working on it and after that it needs to go through testing and then needs to be approved by Apple!!!!!!!!! I just couldn't be asked at that point to go back and point out that I logged a ticket about the Android TV app.

This really is poor, a month after release and a worldwide streaming company can't fix a issue causing an app to crash at launch. I don't know do most users just watch on their PC or mobile phone? I like to watch my Anmie on my big screen hooked up to my AVR on my comfy sofa.

LOL, that's tragic, but we have to laugh I guess ... and thanks to everyone in the thread for keeping us in the loop, I suppose now we know how many of us actually use this app, because the Crunchyroll devs clearly don't dogfood it .

Perhaps we'll have something by the time the new season starts? Anyone care to take any bets on that?

I keep expecting to come here everyday and see an update from someone that says new version is now available in the store. Not sure why I care anymore as the Kodi add-on works so well especially seeking.

Has anyone else noticed that videos are dimmer using the Android TV app?

Things and nice and bright when casting from chrome or tablet to the TV but when watching them from the Android TV app everything is so dim that it's not even worth using. And no it's not the TV brightness it's something that seems to be specific to the videos played back from the app.

On the topic of testing, does anyone pay for Premium+ ? Do they offer app Beta's with that subscription level?

Me too! App stopped working since my Nexus Player updated to Android 7.0 (final official release) . And now the Android app doesn't work on my phone for some weird reason. (even after clearing cache, data, reinstalling etc.)
