OK, so the update was released today finally and does again allow launching on the Nexus Player. However, after the update it just opened on a grey screen. It took a reinstall and relogin to get a responsive interface again.

Note that none of the bugs with inconsistent Back button behaviour (try queue > episode > Series details > episode, then Back .. jumps to queue) or the visual misalignment of tiles on e.g. full queue page have been fixed, and a new one has been introduced on the Home page if you scroll right then left again on queue or recents list - with strange overlapping of the large buttons. VCR-like play controls are as unwieldy and screen-blocking as ever, with no skip back/forward on d-pad left/right, and no way to pause to view whole screen without the large black rectangle blocking most of it.

The update was purely a crash fix for the affected Android N devices.

I can report those UI issues as well though.

Thanks, much appreciated. The What's New notes just states: "Bug fixes!".

the "Update" has the same release date and version as the original Apil 21 version.

Update does nothing (as previously reported by others) except take you to a grey screen.

Well, at least it doesn't immediately crash out. I guess CR was tired of the "report this issue"

That's a good way to solve it

Over SIX MONTHS waiting for a fix ... FTW

It does fix the app, you need to uninstall and reinstal for it to work.

There seems to be a really annoying bug in this app and I am wondering is it just me or do other people experience this as well. If you pause an episode for more then say 30 seconds it very rarely resumes you just get a spinning circle. If you stop the episode and resume it plays fine.

But here is the bit that gets super annoying, when you stop the episode you get two options, start watching our series details. If you select start watching it will start from the beginning. If you select series detail and then scroll through to the episode you are watching you can see the little orange line to indicate that you have watched x percent. Click on that and it takes you back to start watching where it becomes a 50/50 gamble as to whether it resumes from where you left off or the beginning.

Yes, the time marker seems to be set to the last played point when you open the ep details page, and isn't updated when you play from it. I've gotten used to going back then reselecting the episode so it syncs again. Hulu used to have this problem too, but now they sync everything dynamcally on each page refesh so it all works as expected.

To be honest, there are so many usability issues like this with the app that I'm not sure will ever be addressed, given the recent track record of updates. One thing that bugs me constantly is the queue page tiles not being aligned if one of them is showing the blank thumbnail for upcoming episodes (the tile is shorter because it doesn't have a progress bar). A few of these can put the whole page out of whack. OK, it's minor, but it's clear proof that the devs don't even use their own app. Otherwise the Back button bugs show that even some of the most typical user scenarios haven't been tested properly. (Here's another for free: from the Home page, choose the New tab, then click Back. Intuitively, what should the result be: 1. Go back to Home page or 2. Exit the app completely? Yes, you've guessed it ...).

On the other hand, I'm glad Crunchyroll actually made the effort to create this app for a still emerging platform that will no doubt strengthen in popularity as time goes on. So it's a love/hate thing for me currently

The three dozen times I've uninstalled and reinstalled, I didn't think to do it this last time. Thanks, it appears to be functioning this time.

.... Seven Months this time for it to be addressed.

Hurray, but fixed, thanks
