Your definition of great music doesn't match mine I guess. And by no means is your definition objective, because you can't say that music HAS to have a story. I personally think of music as something you vibe to, not necessarily a story that has to be told. I've honestly never heard of someone so obsessed with music having a story. But that's your personal taste and I respect that.

Oh for sure my view is HIGHLY subjective.

IMO Every piece of music is good if it makes people happy.

I just never was a music person until story type music dragged me into liking some music :P

Nothing really has happened to music it just changed and grew. Like everything music can change too. Mainstream radio goes from what is currently popular. Sometimes you have to go out and find new music for yourself because every so often you can find something you didn't think you would have liked but you some how do. I'm always looking for new bands and I still listen to my local hard rock metal station too. I love a lot of different genres beside my favorite genre metal. You have to look and find these bands/artists for ourselves because sometimes you never know what you will find in the end. I've found bands like Crüxshadows, Jinjer, Downplay, Hail the Villain, Electro Swing Circus, Katzenjammer, and plenty of other bands just by using youtube by going from a band I already know and clicking on one I've never heard of before. I found some bands by looking at music forums out of curiosity, going to concerts of bands I've never heard of, and even a goth forum oddly enough. You just have to look because not all music is bad. Music is always changing and there are so many different artists and bands out there you just have to look for them.

I am rarely picky about lyrics. I just pick which songs I like based on the tune. I wouldn't listen to one that encourages shoplifting though.

Autotune and lack of proper lyric writers killed the level of talent.
My favorite genre rock is literally dying out, other than perhaps A7X, there hasn't been too many break through big name bands since the mid 90s.
Almost all modern pop is autotuned garbage with non-meaningful lyrics. I mean, there have been a few recent exceptions like Bruno Mars, but I think back to the Michael Jackson era and I'm not seeing it.

Needless to say, I listen to 80s and early 90s rock in my car and at work, and older pop songs, I can't stand today's garbage.

I prefer slightly robotic singing then normal singing

If there were more songs like this

I would be happy with the music industry haha

Yeah that's a good one.

However when it comes to robotic sounding music, say like Daft Punk I enjoy listening to it, but I have no desire to see it live since you are basically just paying to listen to a recording.
