Clean shaven only gained in popularity due to the use of gas masks. Soldiers had to shave to use them effectively. You suddenly have thousands of fresh shaved young men returning from a war, and BAM a new trend.

I miss the old Civil War era hairs.

Sir, that is up to you.
Some women find them attractive and some don't.
I believe they look good on the right people.
But some people cannot rock a beard.

Do you think you look better with a beard on?
If so, keep it and embrace it.
A lady will come your way who will love you regardless of your beard.

If not, get rid of it.
A lady will come your way who will love you regardless of your non existing beard.

I hate my beard. It's so ugly. It isn't on my chin at all. It's on my second chin. Gross neck beard.
I gotta shave again. I look great without that thing.

I cannot give a worthwhile opinion without seeing your face. My opinion on beards is largely determined by a man's facial features. To me, beards are like glasses. Some pull it off well, some don't, and different styles suit different people.

That said; I question why you feel that you should abstain from continuously alternating between beard styles and going without.

Go with the beard, it weeds out the weak ones that can't handle your manliness.

My boyfriend looks like a child when he shaves. I prefer how he looks with a trimmed beard, but that's just on him. Some people look very unkempt even with a trimmed beard. If you look like Charlie Hunnam, then I can definitely recommend a beard.

I might, it depends on the man, and how neat it is, etc.

Aint no woman gotta tell you to shave that beard.

Any man knows that women hate beards, but they can put up with it if they like you enough to an extent.

now a nice and generous trim is acceptable. just no mustache unless it is November.

I knew a girl who loved beards and found them super attractive.

All good responses. I dont let anyone dictate what i do i just dont have preference myself anymore so curious what other people think. On my way to new city im digi nomad so. I do look similar to charlie hunnam with long hair, travis fimmel, etc.

Its been three months so its getting chopped later on tonight in anycase once it starts going full wizard, viking its gets in the way. But been choosin a style or going clean. I think short full scruff helps define my jaw line as i always shave my neck n line it up nice, my hairs prety soft so idk bout sandpaper lol. Keep opinions coming ill post before n after pics later if anyone cares to see for bonus.

The primary thing to do is keep it clean. My preference would be either clean-shaven or something fairly short - a couple centimeters at most. But make sure it's long enough that it looks like a legitimate beard. If it's too short you'll just look like some college student who's been neglecting shaving - it won't look purposeful.

The beard trend for people in their twenties seems to be somewhere between 'artfully rumpled' and 'lumberjack meets ZZ-Top'. If you reach 'Duck Dynasty' levels of uber-fuzziness, or perhaps dare to venture into 'Grizzly Bear' territory, you've gone too far. Unless she's into that and hey, it's not really my place to judge a man's jaw-pelt on a continuum of quantity. That said, what WILL kill you in the eyes of women isn't what's growing or not growing on the lower half of your face. It's whether you keep it neatly trimmed, washed and conditioned. It's a huge turn off to get close to a man with a beard, only to find food particles enmeshed there. In addition, if you smoke, nix ALL facial hair. Tobacco tends to leach into the hair around the mouth and nose, turning them a nasty, nicotine-yellow-brown that will NOT wash away. The smell isn't all that great either. I'm personally not a fan of facial hair and neither is my husband, but aside from proper grooming, the choice is entirely up to you. Wear your beard in a way that makes you feel attractive (and if in doubt, consult your barber - he's the expert when it comes to crafting a look that will emphasize your best facial features) and the right girl will notice.
