So first of all no one made you read this post nor were you required to comment. It seems like you think there's only one way for shows to be over hyped, which is nonsense. Simply by watching people I normally do on YouTube or someone live streaming on Twitch, even Twitter. So many different outlets people have. You're too hung up on the word ruin, OPM isn't a bad show but for how great it was said to be after watching it once I have no desire whatsoever to watch it again. I can define that as ruined. And don't take half of what I said and combine it with something else trying to put me in a group that i clearly don't belong to..

This is all people's opinions which they are allowed to have. You obviously don't agree, good for you. So feel free to keep your attitude to yourself and just stay out of this thread

Okay. I will go through what you said. "So first of all no one made you read this post nor were you required to comment". This is a public forum meant to voice opinions. "It seems like you think there's only one way for shows to be over hyped, which is nonsense" Where do you get this notion. I mention a way a show can be overhyped. Never did I say there is one way and I'm not sure how you inferred such a thing. I used forums as an example and pinpointing that is besides my general point. Red herring. "Simply by watching people I normally do on YouTube or someone live streaming on Twitch, even Twitter. So many different outlets people have" Never did I imply this wasn't a possible case. In fact, I didn't even necessarily put you in any group, although my thoughts did originally derive from your comment. I mentioned that the mentality I'm talking about is a real one among 'fans' which could be anyone. I don't think that's an outlandish statement as we see the same thing with gaming, movies and the like. I will agree that it was very late for me and my second last comment was a little more than stupid. Anime isn't best for everyone when it's caught on television, that's just how I grew up and how I remember it. I had only my own thoughts to judge something that I'm saw when I was actually in the mood to sit down and watch something. I wasn't trying to watch a show because of the hype, or because I felt I needed to talk about/know about it. I don't mind that the community is more of the latter now days, but I did state that part of my opinion in a shitty fashion where it didn't belong. It isn't as if I'm an elitist who watches anime like that anyway. It's just me remembering good times. Although, I will stand by the fact the whole overhyped argument is an arbitrary one to have, although it may be a fun topic to ramble on about.

I still haven't even watched one punch man seems like your standard over hyped action anime show. Honestly the only reason why I watched the first episode was cause of the hype. I'll probably force myself to watch it someday though.

I felt the same way when watching it, initially. I dropped it after 3 episodes because it was a pretty bad beginning. very episodic and almost 4-koma-esque. but I went back and started to watch it again later, and it really picks up after episode 4. I loved OPM and thought it was very deserving of the hype that it got.

over hyped that didn't live up to it? Attack On Titan, you'd think you're getting something genre defining based on the hype. But I found it to be average at best.

A series that did live up to the hype is HxH. It's like the highest rated anime on crunchyroll.

Haikyuu for me was alittle overhyped, it was still good, but the way people described it made it seem godlike. and for me it didnt fill those shoes. But i still enjoyed it.

The statement " neither would you if you weren't browsing the forums." implies that its my fault the show was overhyped because I'm using an outlet where that tends to happen. My counterpoint was that I wasn't actively looking for a lot of info it just naturally came about. If i missed your point please explain it. I understand that you actually didn't put me in that group, at the same time its rather annoying that you directly quoted my comment, then voiced issues with a group of people that have nothing to do with me. There is a large number of people who watch a lot from word of mouth. And yes I agree that makes a possibility of a show being overhyped greater but in my case the show still has to fall into a genre that I like and somewhat interest me. And of course the overhyped argument is arbitrary, most of these threads are all arbitrary. Its just fun and interesting to hear what people think. Its totally fine that it bugs you, I'm sure you're not the only one.

I'm sure many others have said SAO already, so instead I'll say Gundam Unicorn and all stories in the UC.

I definitely would say Bleach was overhyped af for me. I watched like 50 episodes waiting for it to get better before I realized I was wasting my life lol

Food Wars. Meh, for me. IDK why so many people liked it (ok I know it's ecchi, but I was told there was more to it than that.

Everything with good art and bad writing. Or shallow writing. So basically, everything popular except for Tokyo Ghoul.

Tokyo Ghoul... I haven't seen it, because I really don't like graphically violent things, and I'm sort of unnerved that that many people can even sit through it enough for it to be that popular. I think it's actually the opposite - maybe 10% of the fanbase likes it because it's well-written, and the rest just like it because of the violence.
