I've been a supporter of this site for years. Throughout the past year, I've been coming and going. I.e, cancelling my subscription and reopening it. One of the reasons I keep cancelling is because of how disgustingly bad this site's servers are. I can't take it! My internet connection is 133mbps. You need 24mpbs for 4k. So why the fuck do I consistently get buffer when watching stuff in 1080p? WHY!? This has been happening for a year now! I've left feedback months ago and nothing is getting resolved. I can download all of this site's series off [redacted] and yet I come here to support you guys. This is not okay!

And now I'm torrenting Re:Zero off [redacted] even though I just paid $7 to reopen my account on crunchroll for Re fucking Zero.

I don't have any answers for you, but I'm curious as to how you mainly stream off Crunchyroll. Web (here)? Mobile (tablet, phone)? Gaming system? Ruku?

I ask because I stream mostly off my Ruku 3 and I never have problems. No buffering, nothing. Steams almost perfectly nearly every time. A few glitches, yes, but most of the time, streaming is rock solid.

If you're trying to stream from CR's website, which we all know is terrible, have you tried using the HTML5 player extension for the Chrome web browser?

I haven't used it, but I've heard it helps with some of the streaming issues on the site. Also, there's a new Windows10 App that, I guess, doesn't use Flash and seems to stream better than coming straight off CR's site. Haven't used it, but I hear good things about it.

Those two options might be worth trying. Hope it helps. Cheers.

I second using a Roku 3. We primarily use this in our house to stream off Crunchyroll with very few issues.

If you're using the site primarily to stream, that can be a bit frustrating.

Hope you get some answers!

Try the Chrome extension I linked to. It might help, and if you have Windows10, try the App:

The other thing you can do is dump down to 720P. Honestly, 720P isn't that bad. I doubt you notice much of a difference.

IMO: best bet is to stream CR on a Ruku 3, iPad, or the Windows10 App. Just trying to stream 1080P straight off Cruncyroll's site doesn't work for many people and CR doesn't seem to want to fix it no matter how much people ask.

Good luck. Cheers.

Also , you are running off an Ethernet cable & not Wi-Fi , right ? I had issues (actually CR) streaming on the N-band of my Wi-Fi . I had to lower the settings to get it to stream properly . I guess they think you're trying to steal the stream . I tried the Windows app myself & it was buggy as heck for me . I do get occasional tearing , but it's not bad . I'm on 20M down DSL & if I stream 4K I got to wait a little for the buffer , but when it's there....heaven !

If you have Windows 10, try using our UWP app. You can find it on the Windows Store by looking for "Crunchyroll".

this worked for me. I've also had the lag/stutter issues for about a year or so.

I downloaded the extension and it appears to need my CR username and password. I'm not exactly thrilled about doing that with some third party app. I, like the OP, am very frustrated at the performance problems. My speed consistently tests at about 80 Mbps down from multiple nodes across the US yet streaming shows on CR, even in 720, stutters and chokes. It's very frustrating. I'm streaming on a desktop PC with quality hardware directly connected to my router via an Ethernet cable. Has CR made any official comments about the performance issues?

That extension is developed by beardfist, one of the CR moderators.

So his ISP is throttling CR, while not throttling his pirate streams/downloads? Is that in the realm of possibility? Netflix did have to bribe Comcast to stop throttling them, but CR is much smaller than Netflix - I wouldn't have thought they'd become a target for ISPs. http://qz.com/256586/the-inside-story-of-how-netflix-came-to-pay-comcast-for-internet-traffic/

isps can throttle you without being payed under the table. streaming services such as crunchyroll, twitch, hulu, netflix, justin tv before the merger, hitbox and etc. it doesn't always do with backdoor tinfoil deals. though will just pretend you didn't know that. you do know also not all isps provide you with unlimited bandwidth and can charge up to almost 200 dollars so people don't hit the cap like a cell phone plan? no. because people always look for whats easily to be fed to them.
