Does anybody know if cruchyroll or funimation will have 4K anime know that the Xbox s is out?

Nope, no anime (that I know of) supports a 4k resolution. They certainly COULD make anime 4k, but that's only changing a resolution, and there's really no point in that when it looks the exact same (can be argued).

I never really understood the reasoning behind 4kTV. I don't need a higher resolution than what I already have and most types of graphics wouldn't even benefit from it.

IMO 4k resolution is a big waste.

It's inhumanly possible to see any changes of resolution beyond 4-8k. The only way we could do that is if we somehow adapted a device to process that information for us. Long story short 4k is a waste of time period.

Probably not because they'd need to start producing anime in 4K for there to be any difference at all and I doubt they'd do that considering it would make it more expensive.

As for 4K itself, it's the ceiling. Up to that point in things like gaming you will see the difference albeit with diminishing returns but after that when you are getting into these 5K Apple monitors and the likes it is all just marketing buzzword bull at that point.
I could rant for quite a while about how the flagship monitor race for 4K is detrimental but this isn't the place for that.

you do realize 4k will be a thing over time right? We didn't have 1080p back in the day. Technology goes up n up lol

to be able to see a difference between 1080p and 4k you need to sit the height of the screen back.

so a 60 inch TV is approximately 33 inches high. you need to sit 33 inches from the TV to be able to tell the difference.

What you have now with TV's is the wider colour gamut. 1080p uses a colour space called rec 709 which is quite limited.

Cinemas use one called DCI-P3 which has more usable colours than rec 709. The new HDR TV's are close to this DCI-P3 but the ultimate goal is a colour space called rec 2020 which includes almost all of the colours visible to the human eye.

Once you can use all the extremely large range of colours though you need the higher resolution so the colours blend in better across the screen.

A new HDMI spec 2.1 has just been released which includes 8K resolutions so you will see that come in the next year or 2.

Go into a TV store that sells 4Ks. You'll see a big difference. 1080p looks fuzzy to me now.

I don't see 4K anime production becoming common and mainstream for at least another year or two, it's just too expensive and does not have a large enough userbase. My laptop has a 4K screen, and outside of Netflix - it's almost impossible to find 4K content.

Being someone with a 4k monitor I can defiantly tell the difference between 1080p anime playing on my 1080p screen and my 4k screen.

Anime isn't made in 4k, so it doesn't have much of a point there.

And if it will be, 4k is the final rest of the resolution increases.

Anime doesn't need or want 4k.

Not true on both counts. 8K is already here and anime will be in 4K eventually.

It's going to be a long while until anime jumps up to 4K resolution. Most anime producers are still at the 720p state of technology when it comes to producing it. 1080 is still kind of a "thing" that comes and goes depending on how well the anime is doing. 4K will probably take another 5-8 years to really catch on in the anime realm.

But yes, 8K is "here" but just like 4K - there isn't enough content in this medium to make it worth it just yet.
