I agree. I hate this current generation. I guess I'm an asshole too because unless you were waiting at the bus stop before me, I won't let you go in front of me no matter if you're a woman, an old person, pregnant, disabled, etc. :>

Thing I've noticed in life is that most times, either extremes on any given matter are not good or not ideal.

This.

People be acting like he said he hates PoC or something...

Pretty sure every single religion out there tries to tell you what you can and cannot do. But when puny mortals try it is just wrong.

Somebody should tell people that puny mortals created religion.

Somebody should tell people that puny mortals created religion.

And the god(s) of said religion created those mortals. Henceforth the circular logic response you'd likely get back.

If I create a baby (half create), can I then claim half credit on everything they do? And that's assuming you believe any religion.

I dislike Drumpf, but I at least somewhat agree that people have become far too oversensitive to certain things. There's a point where decency becomes annoyance and political correctness levels become too high, and people have been crossing said lines for the past few years. Like, not even in the case of people who're fighting for actual causes, no, I'm talking about the SJW types. Those need to go.

I mean, you ask me my thoughts, but what really am I supposed to say? I disagree with him, but I still respect the man as an elder. (Very little idea who he is or what he does though)

I think his statement that everyone used to be more "chilled out" is quite odd - especially for a man of his age. Much like my grandmother, he was old enough to live before the Civil Rights Act even passed. That era was more "chilled out" than the current one? I find that hard to believe but also don't find it to be a point worth arguing over. What's the point of arguing over a feeling?

He says my generation are just "kiss-asses", and he's entitled to such an opinion. Personally, I'd say that we're just as confrontational as ever, if not more so. I myself tend to be naturally politically correct, which I really think is quite easy - it's just being courteous to those you're conversing with and about. If that's "kiss-assery" to him, then I think I'd be quite loathe to experience a time where that sentiment is normal.

I do agree with him about not spending what we don't have, but that's about it.

But those are just my thoughts, of course. Perhaps it really is "just the times".

No what he meant was that people were not offended by every single thing/not so easily offended back in the day as opposed to now almost literally everything being somehow offensive. Whether it be racist or sexist or what ever, back in the day people were tougher minded(not ALL of course) and not so sensitive and had much more of a sense of humour.

You are entilteld to your opinion but again, you misunderstand. Being polite and having common decency or courtesy is not the same as being PC. lol

Though the way he stated it isn't 100% ideal, it's fairly true that people a fucking pussies now. We need to find the line between whats actually morally wrong and people just disliking something. America's a great place to live, y'all just need to stop making problems where they don't need to be. Like if I laugh at a joke that's kinda messed up I don't need a whole flock of sensitive people to come running up to me and telling me that I "shouldn't find that funny, I shouldn't laugh, or that I'm 'fucked up in the head'".

Yup, exactly mate. And it not just America its the entire western world.

You know, while he's not entirely wrong about our generation being a little oversensitive, it feels like Eastwod's just using this as an excuse to be a cranky old man and complain about how "the good old days" were superior to the era that we "shitty young'uns" now live in. I mean look at this.

Clint: "When I grew up, those things weren’t called racist"

Yes Mr Eastwood, but in the 1930's and 40's, it also wasn't considered racist to treat black people as actual second-class citizens, nor was it racist to round up the descendants of immigrants from enemy nations and put them into internment camps for fear that they would turn on you.

Not that this is unique to Eastwood though. Every generation likes to look at their childhood years with rose-tinted glasses and accuse the new generation of screwing it all up. Its a self-repeating circle, and I'm sure us millennials will be on the other end of it eventually.

Ha ha i knew that there would be alot of comments along the lines of grumpy old man from the stone age or the racist days.

No doubt. Iam 35 and i do also. But addmittedly, guys getting tatoo's and hitting the gym harder than ever these days.. still wear pink an skinny jeans an act like pussies though..

electricdoomfire wrote:

True stuff. He forgot to mention "special little snowflake syndrome". However, we have plenty of people out there who will do that anyway when this kind of stuff comes up. If you want to think about something humorous, think about the same kind of PC people getting drafted for war. Just firing a gun would probably make them vomit. In that kind of scenario, being offended wouldn't seem like a major issue.

No doubt.

People are reading too much into his age and era than they are his words. He didn't defend the racial status quo of his time; he's saying that people call others racist for unjustifiable reasons.

One time on this forum I was talking about black people, said "African American", and someone literally told me they didn't want me to refer to black American's as such. This is what he is talking about, I believe.

I don't know if he ever bought into that racism as a young adult, or if he still holds any racist beliefs from his time, but his words struck me more as "I've experienced true racism, and this stuff you kids get offended over doesn't hold a candle to it."

100% spot on.

Yes. You do need middle ground. You need ballance. The far left PC extremists are the WORST but the far right extrmemist and actual racist an i do mean ACTUAL are also very shit.

Yes. Absolutely.

Thank you everyone for all your replies. I did read them all. I cant respond to them all! ^^;
Funny, as expected i see a few people here are exactly the type of people that he is talking about and thankfully there are many who are the opposite.
But i mean we are all different and to each their own and times do change.
I largley blame education.
Lets hope that the PC'ness will eventually go away before it is the end of us all. And by all i mean the western world.

lol i edited my post so many times fark kept fucking shit up....

LGBT is part of the problem aswell. Even after Orlando shootings they still dont care it seems. Drowning to death seem fitting for the savage generation more or less.

Either way Clint Eastwood is a great guy, glad someone tells it off like it is.

He's an old white racist who yelled at a chair.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a fair amount of people of all ages do that tbh. If anything, people our age tend to ignore this courtesy.

Anyone calling Clint a racist for saying this is proving his point, anyone bringing up the Civil Rights movement in a pathetic attempt to virtue signal is proving his point. That's not what he's talking about. The world has been taken over by PC cucks catering to minorities that'll start screaming shite like what about slavery the moment a white person even dares to speak out, that's somehow not racist though. 20 years ago hell even 10 years ago Trump wouldn't be getting vilified in the media for saying clearly sensible things like immigration should be better controlled it's a problem or we should concern ourselves with the seemingly continious influx of Islamism it's a problem THAT'S what Clint is talking about when he was growing up and in NO time period would that ever be considered a bad or controversial thing to say. It's OBVIOUS as could be all you need is actual knowledge of these matters not SJW knowledge, only in our generation. I don't like it when grouchy old timers talk down on future generations just out of pure salt but Clint has a clear point here don't try to dumb it down because he breached your safe space.
