Will it not just use your Gamertag? "Steam name/PSN Name" ?

I'm not sure about Gamertags, but as for Steam names, they aren't unique. One of the features of the game is to be able to name a new planet that you've discovered. That would require you to have a unique username. Most likely you'll have to create an account the first time you launch the game.

I'm excited for it, for sure. I've had a space game addiction for a long time now and I've overplayed just about all of them that I still care to play... so... ya know. The only one I currently play is Elite: Dangerous, I definitely need another outlet or I'll burn myself out on it.

The first thing I'll do is find a really pretty planet to land on, and before I land I'm going to decimate the entire area as much as I can, and kill all living things near me. Then I'll land.

Hopefully these features are fleshed out enough for me to dest... make my landing site safe.

Its nice with the whole different worlds ("levels") with different life forms that is so different from each other....

One thing I want to know about, is it mostly about exploration?
Or would there be more reason to remember/using each of the different planets? (resources etc?)

Some of it seems quite boring, just hoping it will have good things to keep you going or quests/goals to keep you coming back to (home planet or what you can call "home")

But then again you have that with the ships, and finding them + MP if it works any good? (since they could maybe spawn many hours away from you?

Of course I'm hyped! It's gonna be a great game I already know. I'm sad 'cause I won't have the money to buy it when it comes out lol

Planets do have resources, but I don't think they're necessarily unique as resources are split into their elements I think, although one could have a certain resource in abundance; there is actually ship combat though which can increase your standing with factions, planet combat with sentinels and hostile creatures and I believe they're eventually adding in some form of pvp, and may work on some kind of Destiny-like hubworld, here's hoping they pull it off.

I'm very excited, got it on PS4. Will play tomorrow night at midnight. Gonna name my first planet after Trump. Trumponia or something. Trumptopia. And the animals will be little Trumplets.

Aaand everyone hates it so much they've completely stopped talking about it, and Hello Games has dropped off the face of the earth.

I'm normally not that critical about video games not meeting expectations, I expect that the experience won't be perfect and it won't be EVERYTHING people are hoping it to be, but...This game, is a failure. Literally everything that it does that involves space, Elite Dangerous does better, a lot better. I've put maybe 6 hours into NMS and I've tried my hardest to like it. I wanted to like it, I love exploration and I love space, so how could I go wrong with a game like this?

My post up above? literally none of what I wanted to do in my post up above can be done. You can't even AIM at the ground unless it's near the horizon. I could go on and on about the ways this game falls short, and I expected the hype to ruin it to an extent, but the PROMISES made by the devs were pretty much all lies. ALL! There were a lot of them!

These are sad times we live in, and Hello Games are dirty thieves.

There's a larger thread here that started earlier and still had some discussion happening more recently than this one did.

I'm not quite sure how this thread was missed by the mods, but I guess nobody's perfect.

That said, yes, even if you went into the game without much/any hype it was garbage. I was quite pleased that Steam gave me a refund.

Mods rely a lot on reports from users when it comes to duplicate threads, so since no one reported this, we missed it.

I've closed it now though. VeggyZ, please do share your thoughts in the other thread ( /forumtopic-959571/no-mans-sky ) -- you can just copy paste from your post here into a new post there. Unfortunately mods have no way of copying or moving a post from one thread to another.
