Being judgemental is simply part of being human. It's often not a reasonable thing to do. Impossible to get rid of though and one can really only change the form of it.

Common morality dictates a unifying force through which tribes can emerge. Shaming enforces it. Or something.

There is no point to it. Its just because we are humans. Humans do such things.

But i do wish we could stop doing it. We should all live togheter peacefully despite our different worldviews.

it makes us feel like we did something and punished someone for being stupid, different, bad. So cathartic.

Irrespective of whether or not said catharsis actually helps anything change or get better, but at least those who throw the stones get to feel good about it. So there's that.

Pretty much this, yeah. At its core it's a way to enforce group norms, and to some extent that can be good for survival. And maybe there's a certain natural sadism in there too.

I approve more of positive ways to maintain social cohesiveness, though.

why is it often that people lose heart from shame and ridicule? what does it mean to be effected by it? to lose validation? to lose trust? to lose identity? to find yourself with more enemies?

in a way, if the above were to be true, such usage of shame would prove helpful by mentally and emotionally attacking one who could adopt a disposition to harm others; meaning such actions would be necessary in order to create a unified morality if strict law/consequence does not quell radical action. I do wonder though; can a society maintain peace without the usage of shaming?

(Beware of Shaming that attempts to indoctrinate you into a culture outside your already established morals...or not, who knows what'll happen).
