How do you have a non-legit website? It either exists or it doesn't.

I assume that gravesol is referring to legality, specifically legality of content. CR was not always the upstanding anime industry advocate that it has since become--it was once well-known as a place to encounter anime of questionable origin, and it eschewed complicated legal concerns such as licensing, etc. CR's transformation has been acute and--as a member--appreciated.

CR did host "fan subs" originally. In 2009 all pirate titles were eliminated.

I remember when Crunchyroll was coal powered, and shinji has to walk 5-miles up hill to turn on the servers.

That was "uphill both ways," was it not? And if the coal gave out, there was always that hand-cranked magnet inside the coil of copper. . .

Haha... yep, both ways up hill in 4 feet of snow. I forgot that.

I used CR since I was 14 (under a different username). That was when there was abundance of anime to watch. But of course it wasn't legal. The forum back then was very much alive, as well as the groups.

I kind of remember it since I started using crunchyroll in 2008 before I ever wanted to make an account on here. I actually watched Code Geass for the first time on here back then.

There used to be a horror movie section that kept me coming back again and again. I didn't have an account and didn't post back then. I was only here for the movies. I made one later.

Oh man. Nostalgia is kicking in. I hopped on CR in late 2007 / early 2008. So much more lively.

Honestly I can't remember when I got on cr but I'm pretty sure I was on here around that time (diff acc obviously). Or maybe near the end. Never thought I'd come back again.
