Not really. Think of the Black Plague spread across the globe.

Zombies are usually created by viruses though mate , can't have an Zombie Apocalypse without a viral plague that has consumed the world .

True but imagine a virus that only causes you to get sick and die without turning you into a flesh eating creature that creates more flesh eating creatures by bite.

Could be some overlap if it is a disease that creates the zombies.

But a worldwide plague might also include SARS, bird flu, antibiotic resistant tuberculosis, Marburg/Ebola, Dire Sinusitis, etc.

And don't rule out voodoo zombie apocalypse.

Plenty of those mate but Zombies and Plagues are still joined at the hip. Ya can't have one without the other.

An airborne virus might be more dangerous than zombies, but wouldn't have quite the psychological terror of seeing those you know and love become monstrous corpses. (In fairness though, after a few weeks most zombies would be so sickly they'd stop being a threat outside of large, unavoidable herds).

The plague is by far the worst case scenario. The people are still people, and as others have said you can't beat up germs.

Zombies are no longer people and you can fight them, gritty as that may be. Same with monsters or aggressive aliens.

You can't control nature, but you can at least try to flee a natural disaster.

Mother Nature has the most potential. She can definitely make sure that we starve.

I can't do too much against a plague. Not that I could do too much against the other things.

I will pick worldwide plague since it is the most realistic threat and the disease cannot be detected. Aliens, zombies, and monsters stand out so they can be detected and preparation for those threat can be made. The 'mother nature gone psycho' is a Capitalists propaganda that depict the natural environment as a dangerous force that threaten humanity; contrary to Western phobia, the environment provide free economic benefit like food, clean water, clean air, medicine, wood, and other organic materials. In fact, the current hunter gatherers societies like Ju'hoansi live a very relaxing life with little work and abundant foods. The only disadvantage that hunter gatherers has over agriculture is its inability to sustain dense population.
