So I noticed my old social media blocker stopped working and I picked up the addon "ghostery". It gives me a popup on every site showing me what it blocked and crunchyroll has way too much useless shit being loaded on the main page:

Got me wondering... Does anyone ever use those social media buttons on websites or are you like me and get annoyed that facebook is slowing load times on crunchyroll while never clicking those buttons?

I noticed after watching a show on Hulu that youtube and facebook started giving me stuff aimed at that show. Ad blockers aren't enough.

Noscript actually gets rid of most of that garbage, or at least blocks the scripts, it's kind of amazing. That and Adblock are a winning combo.

I don't use a social media blocker for websites, which wouldn't really matter if they popped up or not anyways as I don't use them, except for posting on this site, but I do use an ad block on my browser. Main reason I started using it was because of the annoying video ads that Crunchyroll has where the sound automatically starts if the mouse goes over it. And of course the video part of the ad would be in the top right section of it, so your mouse would go over it quite often as that's where your main buttons for your account are here on Crunchyroll. I don't feel guilty about using it on here either as I pay for a Premium Account and I don't miss seeing the ads at all. It does bug me however that a lot of other sites are now using that stupid Facebook comment plugin thing for comments on news articles and stuff so that you have to have a Facebook account to post a comment, even if it isn't a Facebook connected website. I don't have a Facebook account and probably never will, so if I want to post something on those sites, I can't.

I blocked Facebook for a good amount of time because the pages would just be stuck loading that damn button I never used anyways.

I use noscript and only allow certain URLs to execute scripts. It is actually amazing to see how many URLs are trying to run scripts on any given site. A lot of them are trackers, and those I always leave blocked. I only allow the URLs that I need to in order to view the content.
