I built all my websites from scratch, my forums too, and they're on PDO. Love it.

Ps. I very--- VERY rarely use for loops, by the way. That pic was just the only time I've ever a for loop being relevant, lol. (Not talking about foreach which I use all the time).

Pps.. still medicatead.

Java since I'm most versed in it, and it gives you a chance to work on many parts of the stack (with good supporting tools). I may be looking for an open-source project to contrib to, since all my commits for work are on a private repo, but I haven't found a java one on github that I like yet. Although, language isn't a big deal for me anymore, so I should probably broaden the search.

Admittedly, the only ones I know are Java and HTML.

PDO makes everything so much better. If you use 100% PDO you don't have to sanitize your inputs and restrict people's use of special characters.

Really? Foreach loops are really great for DB info but I find for loops to be the go to for anything I am not pulling from the database.

If anyone has not learned assembly, your really should, even if only to better appreciate higher level languages.

Mhm, PDO was a blessing. <meta charset='utf-8' /> ftw. I still use a basic sanitation function, though (taken from my functions.php)

function clean($data) {
$data = trim($data); /* remove whitespace from start and end of string. */
$data = htmlspecialchars($data, ENT_NOQUOTES, "UTF-8"); /* removes e.g. <script> tags. */
return $data;
}

Regex is a pain and really only fun when I'm free to use it creatively, like translating everything on the website to younger futhark (16 characters) when users are logged out or not a member with reading privileges.

lol, yeah, I don't have so much as one for or while loop on my website. It's all foreach.

Personally I like Java because it babies you lmao plus that's what i started with when i took AP comp sci in high school. But i think it depends too. I think for something small Java is cool but for BIG programs C because C is faster because of how you can manage your memory and shit. In some of the future game design classes I will have to take (i'm a college student still) I know Java Script is the go to language although I'm not sure if that's even considered a language

Well, currently I'm working in one of my college's research lab as a volunteer in the mobile department, so I'm just using java =P

Java is really fun because it has a really awesome API, but I also love C (gotta love Mathlab and Arduino man)!
Other than that, I'd love to study Python (AI projects) and assembly later ^^

Why would you use Javascript for a game? It's designed for modifying DOM elements on webpages.

In recent times with JS engines becoming much more efficient(V8 in Chrome being a good example) and HTML5 spiking in popularity, JavaScript is essentially overtaking Flash and handling it... surprisingly beautifully. If you want an example of amazingness pulled off using JavaScript, there are a couple projects you should look at.

http://bellard.org/jslinux/ - JavaScript emulating a tiny Linux computer
https://archive.org/details/softwarelibrary_msdos_games/v2 - JavaScript running DOS games
http://asmjs.org/faq.html - Just utterly interesting
