Personally I like Java because it babies you lmao plus that's what i started with when i took AP comp sci in high school. But i think it depends too. I think for something small Java is cool but for BIG programs C because C is faster because of how you can manage your memory and shit. In some of the future game design classes I will have to take (i'm a college student still) I know Java Script is the go to language although I'm not sure if that's even considered a language

Why would you use Javascript for a game? It's designed for modifying DOM elements on webpages.

In recent times with JS engines becoming much more efficient(V8 in Chrome being a good example) and HTML5 spiking in popularity, JavaScript is essentially overtaking Flash and handling it... surprisingly beautifully. If you want an example of amazingness pulled off using JavaScript, there are a couple projects you should look at.

http://bellard.org/jslinux/ - JavaScript emulating a tiny Linux computer
https://archive.org/details/softwarelibrary_msdos_games/v2 - JavaScript running DOS games
http://asmjs.org/faq.html - Just utterly interesting

Wow thats an amazing use of Javascript. Didn't think it could do that much and I keep making more and more complex stuff with JS

Well I guess this XKCD is about true now:

something.js

I thought that too, when I first learned it that's what I was under the impression of it. But I haven't done anything JS related in about 4 years and when I looked at my friend's games who took said classes earlier than me I was impressed you can do things like this in JS. THe one I like best was the assignment where they had to remake snake into their own game with similar concept.

Fuck javascript.

Of course windows-chan would say that. Fuck Internet explorer for not working!

Javascript runs at glacial speed, even in v8. I was working on a voip project using WAMP, but v8 couldn't deserialize JSON fast enough to prevent skips in audio(though i could try msgpack).

Compared to CSS it runs slowly. However I've found more often than not Javascript runs slowly because people coded it badly or they coded it using the least efficient way possible and looks like it was designed for another language. I just made a program for work that can sort thousands of rows of data alphabetically, ascending or descending, and according to the users language within a second.

When I used to code Javascript like PHP it ran slowly for me too. Now I have a better idea of how I should go about coding it and it runs SOOOOOO much faster.

This is code compiled with emscripten into asm.js, so no, it's not how I'm programming.

Working on a new project using ASP.NET MVC 5, and C# with Linq is pretty friggin sweet. And as unpopular as this statement will be, Windows 10 is actually pretty good. Unfortunately, Windows isnt like BSD or GNU/Linux where I could fuck around with the source and some configs, so I somehow need to figure out how to get my computer to stop talking to MS servers.

Lets improve the code:

if ($cake) {
echo "There is " . $cake . "!";
} else {
echo "My life is a lie...";
}

HTML and Java are for kids and wanna be programmers so of course I'll say C.

Why did the Java programmer quit the project? Because he can't C the point

No but really it depends on for what purpose I'm programming something for as for some instances one thing is easy in one lang but hard in another

PHP: What's this interger doing? Oh wait now it's a string... Wait why is it a boolean all of a sudden. Well at least I have 3 functions that fundamentally do the same thing but are vaguely different and have no input consistency.

I'd actually expect C++ to be more of a tsundere. Maybe even deredere

I use Java predominately at work, but I've always had a soft spot for C#. Scala has been one of the more interesting languages I've written in recently and chaining streams in it has heavily influenced my Java code. C++ was my primary language during my college years.

Then there's Python, Basic, C, and bash (if you want to include scripting).

Overall, I'm going to go with Scala as my current favorite programming language.
